[There's a poof and here is Wolfwood, carrying a greasy brown bag that smells of fresh donuts close to his chest. He looks around quickly, and let's out his breath, shoulders sagging and a troubled expression crossing his face. He dons a tired smile and smooths the front of his decidedly bright apron, graced with a big yellow smiley face.]

Hey needle noggin! You 'round here? [digs out a cigarette but can't light it up yet] Where'd that spikey idiot run off too? I got his dammed donuts, as promised.

You're gonna get fat eatin' 'em like that. [yes, he's gonna be an ass about it, this is Wolfwood after all] Dunno. Did yours have a fire fight 'tween two heavily armed men that included a fire or three?

[snorts, shaking his head] I do this all the time and it hasn't happened yet.

[he starts frowning faintly at mention of the firefight, though] No... there's been a few problems but it's mostly been peaceful.

Must be all that runnin' 'round screamin' you do. [gets out another cigarette and lits it from his first one]

They cleaned up most o' th' damage but there's a couple places they hadn't got to yet. Th' well's more important t' keep open anyhow.

Hey, I don't scream! ...

[speaking in between bites of the next donut] Hmmm, the well being there is the same, if it's the same one. Is it Johansen that's the mayor in your town?

You do too! Sounds like a girl the way you run off screamin' an' runnin' into things.

Johansen? Nah, he runs the saloon. Monrole's th' mayor. Been tryin' t' hook me for the preacher.

Since when do I sound like a girl?! [huffs, starting to get faintly annoyed]

The same people with different jobs? I guess it could be weirder.

Since the last time you were off screamin'. [gives him a look that says a-ha gotcha!]

Do you got a Missy in your town?

[...frowns at him, then digs out another donut]

I remember her. Sort of shoulder-length red hair and big green eyes, right?

Has an annoying habit of leanin' way too close and this little voice, right?

[wishes he brougth the whiskey but dang it didn't think of it at the time]

[with raised eyebrows] She's never leaned in that close to me...

Lucky you. [and now he is reaching for a donut] She likes t' do that with me a lot lately.

[lets him take another one just this once, starting to grin] It sounds like she's taken a real fancy to you!

[it's too easy to grab a donut from the Stampede so he stares at it for a moment] It ain't right, that is. She's should be lookin' at th' guys with a future.

[aaaaand he stares at Vash]

Anyone ever tell ya how damn annoyin' you are!

[is very amused by this] Who says you don't have a future? Coming back from the dead is the best second chance I've ever heard of.

[holds the bag closer to himself now as he keeps on chowing down]

She's jus' a kid! [is so not amused because he doesn't think it's right, second chance or not] 'M old 'nough t' be her father!

... Oh. That could be a problem.

O' course it's a problem! Dammed kid's got it in her her mind I'm some kind o' hero or somethin'!

Come on, Wolfwood, it's not doing any harm to let her think that.

Girl needs t' find herself someone good for her. [scowls at Vash]

[smiling~] Do you know her well enough to tell what's good for her?

[really scowls] She's th' town's sweetheart an' I'm th' haunt o' th' church. She's got better guys out there.

Is it such a bad thing to think that someone might like you? Honestly, Wolfwood, if it's a crush she'll get over it sooner or later.

Yes. [and no he will not explain that one since he's got a lot of reasons in his skull. somwhere. they make sense to him that is] I hope so. Jus' wish she'd stop showin' up tryin' t' get me t' fall over her.

[shakes his head, taking the last donut out of the bag and starting to munch on it] If it gets that bad, you can try to let her down gently.

Mebbe. I've got rotten luck with women.
