Right, so. Has anyone else noticed any changes to their homes? Other than the random shop and the sudden appearance of the astral plane, that is.

For example, I have a big chunk of 2006 sitting in the middle of my 1973. Yuyuko and Fumie have both noticed differences in how someone they know behaves. [and Gene Hunt now has sparkly blood, but we're just not going to mention that]

I'm not playing games. I was born in 1969. My dad left my mum and I at a family wedding when I was four. That's 1973. 1988, I joined the force. I was nineteen. I knew Red Rum would win the Grand National because he already had. Wins in '74 and '77 again, by the way. He gets second in '75 and '76. "Redrum" is used in some of Stephen King's books, incidentally. It's "murder" spelt backwards.

[the Guv is having a reeeeally hard time taking all this in, let alone digesting it. Sam Tyler, his DI, the sissy nonce from Hyde...is from the future. and is DCI of Gene's precious CID. head law enforcement agent for his beloved City. the bastard can barely string two words together to form a coherent sentence and gets his panties in a wad over proper procedure, and he's the head of CID. not to mention the whole impossibility of time travel thing, but the Guv's more focused on Sam being DCI]

[snaps] I don't hate CID. [and now, not!snappish] And I'm sure that makes perfect sense to you. 'Realities merging and dividing.' Do you even know what that means?

[and, finally, Sam Gets It. Which means he's going to be all 'Dorothy' about it. His anger fades, and he takes on something held back from compassion, lest Gene reject it by virtue of its weakness] I'm not going to let CID fall apart. I won't let that happen.

[finally! though, for once, Gene lets it go without a smart remark, because he's having a moment. that, and he doesn't really want to go over the details of the whole thing. feelings, and all that. ghastly stuff] Sure you won't, Tyler.

[snorts and takes a drink] Said we have to get closer, whatever the hell that's supposed to mean.

I won't.

Well she can't mean your fist, as I reckon I'm rather well aquainted with that. [glances at Gene's flask and then shoves his hands into his pockets] I doubt she means it physically. [frowns] You mentioned a computer, when you talking about it last time.

Yeah, some sort of monitor or television screen or something. Had information on both of us. She said it said your reality and that brat's were merging while ours were moving farther apart. [makes an unpleasant face and takes another drink as if to wash away the taste] Said it had to do with, well...you know.

Through some...thing, I don't even bloody know. I told her to tell me what the hell she meant and she turned around and there was this bleedin' contraption and typewriter or some other piece of shit and she typed into it and there was all our information.

Did she pull it out of somewhere? What type of technology was it? Was it like the glasses Fumie uses? Your punch card computers? What was it like?

I don't bloody well know, Tyler! We were on that Astral thing and she was giving blokes answers so I asked how CID could be whole again. The bloody cunt wouldn't give me a straight answer then just turned around and messed with something and why the hell don't you just ask her, Gladys?
