[an impromptu shooting range is set up, with a handful of thick targets lined in a row, humanoid and otherwise; the Doctor is shooting at them with a small sonic blaster, aiming to incapacitate; he rarely misses]

[Ryotarou stands off to the side to watch the stranger practice, wary. No idea what he's shooting with or why he chose to practice here, really, but he can't deny that he's morbidly interested.]

[eventually stops, lowering his hand; he turns his head, smiling slightly]

Hello.

[blinks, then gives a little smile return]

... Hello.

[his smile widens, as he holsters the gun]

I've never seen you, before.

[watches Five holster the fairly foreign weapon, then nods in his usual, kind of shy way]

I haven't been able to come here for very long...

[nods back]

I see. How are you finding it, so far?

It's... [shrug] Different, I suppose. Not good or bad. I'm meeting a lot of people here. [which may or may not be a good thing] ... what about you? Are you... the Doctor? [Thank you, Ten, for tipping him off to what the other Doctors look like. ♥]

If nothing else, it's...illuminating.

[his eyes widen, and then he grins]

My, I'm more famous than I thought...

Illuminating?

[blinks at the grin, then smiles back]

You... get around.

I've learned quite a lot - some of which I probably didn't need to know.

[laughs]

I suppose I would, with three of me about - four, now.

Like what?

[nods]

I've only spoke to your tenth... the first tenth. [Uhh..] Doctor B and to the newer tenth too, so I guess that, technically, makes you the second Doctor I've spoken to. ... It's strange. You're really the same person?

Well, there's a universe in which I where beige, for a start.

[sympathetic smile]

It is, yes.

We are, in a sense - all incarnations are, at their core, the same person - but at least three of us hale from different universes. My two Tenths are...the most similar, obviously.

... Beige? Is that really that big of a difference, though?

[nods a little, trying to figure it out]

That must get confusing... especially when time travel is involved, too. [small smile at the last part] Yeah. I couldn't tell they weren't the same person until Doctor D — um... the newer one — didn't really recognize me.

Not on the surface, but I can't imagine why I'd want to wear it constantly. It would make me look younger, stain easily, stand out...I imagine I'm less practical, at least.

[returns the smile]

He confused quite a lot of us, for a bit. I've met other incarnations before, but never encountered the same one - or one that looks the same, anyway.

Why do you wear black, then? Just.. because it's practical?

[a nod]

I wonder what makes the two of them different from each other... Do you know?

Mostly, and it makes me look a tad more distinguished, don't you think?

[shakes his head] Not yet. They must have diverged somewhere, but they act the same, more or less.

I suppose. But I can't say for sure, since I haven't seen you any way else yet...

Maybe it's not that big of a difference, then?

Perhaps I should try it one day, let people compare.

Or a very recent one.

What if people thought you were the one that regularly wears it, though?

... Mm. That's possible, too. I guess it'll just take time to figure out, right?

I could correct them. [mischievous smile] After a bit.

I imagine so. He might know, by now.

[pause at that... then a small smile to match] That sounds like fun, actually... as long as they were told, eventually.

True... It may be more obvious to him.

Of course. Mind, if the real one turns up, he may have a bit of trouble...

It must help, having the other about.

... I guess that's a risk too.

If there wasn't another around, wouldn't that make him the original? Then it wouldn't be a problem anyway.

There's usually at least some involved.

[quiet laugh]

True enough.

[which reminds him of something not-quite-happy, so he nods] ... Yeah.

[little smile to the last part, though]
