[an impromptu shooting range is set up, with a handful of thick targets lined in a row, humanoid and otherwise; the Doctor is shooting at them with a small sonic blaster, aiming to incapacitate; he rarely misses]

[Watching from the side, not far off, she regarded the man carefully but did not say anything. Only observing for now.]

[he turns his head when his arm rests, waving with his free hand]

[wry smile]

I am, yes. It's not precisely enjoyable, but...it's satisfying, in its way.

[folding her arms, smiling juuuuust a tad] It relieves the stress, I suppose?

[slides the gun into the holster beneath his coat]

A bit, yes, and it helps to know the skill is there if I need it. I'd rather not, mind.

[softly] But we need to do quiet a lot of things we'd rather not.

What are you doing?

[lowers his hand, turning to look at her]

Practising. Was I bothering you?

Hn? No. I just... [Blinks, as though surprised at her self.] I... wanted to know what that weapon was.

[watching him, eyes a bit wide] Didn't know you could shoot like that. Any of you.

[his eyes widen, slightly, before he smiles, carefully holding it out to her]

A sonic blaster, invented in the 51st century. The beam disintegrates everything it touches.

[pauses, smiling faintly]

No? I'm rather glad - I prefer not needing to.

[Holds it loosely for a moment, measuring it with her eyes. And then she takes a stance, aims and fires--and blasts off the head of one of his targets, and then two more in quick succession. She looks at the blaster, intrigued.]

This is a good weapon.

[stares, for a moment, before chuckling quietly]

A weapon is only as good as its bearer.

[Oh hai Doctor, have her looking at you in mild surprise]

...were you practicing for any particular reason?

Haven't seen you use it, really. The Brigadier is the one always pulling his gun out. And then usually you say something about guns not working on this sort of species and the Brigadier tells you he doesn't care.

[his smile widens, and he shakes his head]

That does sound familiar. He always was to fond of the thing.

[grins] He still is.

[soft laugh]

At least he has you about to curb him, hmm?

[is surprised at her surprise]
