[sharply] I was wondering if any time passed for them, or if everything stopped without the great Gene Genie to witness it all.

[shoves a finger in Sam's face, not in the mood to put up with his attitude] Considering it is my reality, it stopped dead as I did, okay, Tyler? Nothing happened, nothing changed, no one so much as farted. Now shut it or I'll do it for you!

[takes a step back, fingers curling into fists as he tries to hold himself back from punching Gene in the face.

[and the hit connects! (for once) and the Guv reels back, momentarily stunned -- not so much from pain but from, well...Sam finally landing a hit -- and retaliates with his own punch to Sam's head. because this is how adults handle their feelings, children]

[actually manages to block it, and punches in return. Come on, Gene, show him who's boss!]

[block's Sam's return shot, grabbing his fist and twisting his arm to the side as he steps in, slamming his opposite shoulder into his DI's chest, the momentum knocking Sam into the wall, where the Guv keeps him pinned] Don't you ever take a swing at me again, Tyler.

You deserved it.

[glares, snarling a little, then shoves Sam hard against the wall before stepping away and lighting up, back to him] Get over yourself, Tyler, and learn that what I say goes. You shouldn't have been asking the question in the first place.

[slumps against the wall, shoving his hands into his pockets] I was making an inquiry into the facts, Guv. I wasn't asking for anything else.

Yeah, well, you don't need to know the 'facts' this time, Tyler. There's no case, there's nothing to solve. I'm here, so just let it go.

If you'd really let it go, you wouldn't get so bloody angry when I try to ask a question about it.

And what have I told you in the past about bloody well asking questions, Gladys? I think it was 'don't.' And what my CID does is none of your bloody business, anyway, so shut it.

[lip curls, head tips up as if he's going to give a sharp retort and declination. But then his head sinks again, and he sighs and pushes himself off the wall, plastering on a smile] Yes, Guv.

Great! Now let's go. [and he's off to get himself right pissed cause he doesn't want to remember this conversation in the morning]
