[surveys the death and destruction on the Plane with an inquisitive eye] I assume this was the Master's doing, then? How typical. Though I do need a word with him, if he'd be ever so willing to come out of hiding.

She's a vampire. What do you care? [tilts her head, but sits beside him, tucking her legs beneath her] Thank you. I want them gone as soon as possible.

She's...I dunno, hard to explain. [taps his fingers against her temples, massaging them gently] How bad are they right now?

As I said: she's a vampire. She's nothing. [closes her eyes] Manageable, though only marginally so. The attacks are more frequent now, as the drums begin pushing at the barriers I've erected.

[sighs because he knows he's the anomaly for liking her and makes Contact, wincing a little as always] This increase is...what, 100%? That fast?

[feels him wince and frowns, hugging herself] 97.83 percent, to be precise. And yes, it has been quite rapid. I've done my best, but I can feel it seeping through my interior, leaking into other rooms and functions. I believe that's what triggered your last episode, because they slipped into one of the areas you go to rest and where I'll still permit you to move for fear of finding them.

[shifts closer to her] Everyone's all right now, though?

As well as can be expected, yes. I've shielded them from the worst of it. I don't believe any of them have any real idea what's going on, and for that I am glad.

[nods a little and starts trying to relax the drums through his usual 'calming thoughts' method] Have you been stressed more than normal?

[shakes her head] I don't believe so, though it's hard to tell, sometimes. [thinks on it a moment, voice quiet] I am ... worried for you, though. Your Eighth. Perhaps more than usual. We've been in the divergent universe so long and being trapped in one place is beginning to bother you.

[rubs her temples] My Ninth was recently able to leave his planet. I've been trying with you back home but no such luck. Might be worth it to try, though. For you I mean.

To be able to fly again? [looks at him, something akin to hope in her expression] Half of me is gone, here, unable to travel through time, as no time exists. But to fly, to move about the universe ... Do you honestly believe it possible? To give you such a wonderful thing after all my mistakes here, I...

[smiles a little at the hope] I don't know. But it's always worth trying. Who knows? I know you've got a lot of adventures to go, in that universe. You're bound to fly free eventually, old girl.

I desperately want that, Doctor. Being trapped here ... it's stifling. I feel as though I'm going mad.

I know. I want off this planet rather badly.

I would take you, if I could. You know this, don't you?

[gives her a reassuring smile] I know. But right now you can't.

And I hate every moment more we're trapped here. [sighs, leaning toward him tiredly] And with these infernal drums, I find hate comes far easier than it should.

[shifts to support her, letting her rest] You can't let them get to you.

I know. But it is hard, and I am so tired. [curls close to him] Even now, they won't stop. I can feel them straining against the bonds I've erected, breaking down barriers. I don't want to go mad again.
