[Menzies appears in the middle of the Plane clearly arriving straight from work. she's in a suit, as well as wearing an ID card hanging from her neck and a belt of police gear around her waist. however, her hair is disheveled and she looks very concerned about something. ignoring her surroundings, she pulls her right arm against her, twisting the fabric of her shirt so see can see the underside of it. she frowns down at a small round scortch mark on her shirt for a moment before she presses against it, still frowning, but showing no sign of pain as she prods at the area]
[after a moment, she lets her arm go and now stares down at her own hands in confusion--as though she expects to find some sort of answer there. she considers silently for a bit, chewing her lip. but eventually she sighs before mumbling to herself:] I wish I had a knife...
[ooc: Menzies' wish has had the accidental side effect of making her invulnerable for a month! Just a warning that if you give her something sharp, she's going to do a little (ultimately harmless) test with it.]

Your clothing looks quite atrocious enough as it is without taking a knife to it.

So, you know. [But he doesn't add anything else useful, like his real name.]
I should think that the damage bullets do to skin and flesh would be of significant more concern.
no subject
Oh, would you? You know, normally I'd be right there with you. Except in this case, interestingly enough, there isn't any. [she flexes her arm as evidence. the situation is still rather disturbing, but thankfully Narvin's attitude is making it easy for her to hide her own misgivings behind a heavy dose of dryness and sarcasm]

Patricia? Is everything all right?
no subject
Ah, apparently so. Which is interesting considering I just took a bullet to the arm.
[she holds up the offending appendage, showing him the small scorched spot on her shirt. the fabric isn't even torn; the bullet was deflected before it could even do that much damage]
no subject
Did you?
[ It's not that he thinks she's lying, but that just sounds... well, not completely unbelievable, maybe, but very difficult to believe. ]

[He can provide one if she needs it - it's right there on his waist, after all - but after taking a look at her condition he's a little curious as to why.]
Don't think it'll help with that scorch mark you've got on your shirt, unless ye mean to cut it out.
no subject
You're not gonna believe this, but I just got shot. And... [realising that saying she wants to attempt to cut her hand would sound mental, she instead goes with:] I want to know if what I just saw really happened.
no subject
[He's been shot, and he knows how it feels all too well. Menzies is not acting like someone who's been shot, and while he still looks concerned he's also looking confused as well.]
Are ye sure whoever did that didn't just miss ye?

[Something odd happening to Menzies? Of course Kay's going to show up. It's almost like a beacon.]
What's goin' on? [The Plane's been pretty damn strange lately.]
no subject
Well, I got shot in the arm--except this was the result. [she holds up her arm to show him the spot on it. there's a bullet-shaped scorch mark on her shirt, but no sign whatsoever of an injury] The bullet, ah. Bounced off.
[she knows that sounds ridiculous, but she also knows what she saw. and if anyone is going to believe her, she has a feeling Kay will. they've both seen too many things not to]
no subject
Like an immortal. Skooks.
[He squints. That's pretty odd for a human, though. The last time something like this happened he was turned to stone by an alien machine.]

the only icon i have with the knife in it right now is a crack one oops
[ And who is it but Clear, again! He's sitting ontop of a nearby building, which is probably very unexpected, even considering him. He jumps down without a problem, and pulls a knife out of his large coat pocket. ]
I have one!
no subject
[the knife is another surprise. though his appearance is more that of a young adult, from his manner, she thought he was a kid] You carry a knife around? [the words aren't accusatory so much as incredulous. still, she takes the knife] Ah, cheers. [but she hesitates, not sure if she should perform the sort of test she has in mind in front of him. after a pause, she asks:] 'ave you read about the experiments they do here?
no subject
Clear honestly has no idea what she wanted the knife for, but she was always nice to him, so he wanted to help out! Though strangely enough it seemed to be a combat knife instead of one used for cooking. ]
A bit, yes! After all, I want to be as well informed as I can about this fascinating place? Does that have something to do with needing a knife?

But while he's been hoping to see her there today, seeing her like this isn't how he imagined. His eyes widen at the sight of her, and his eyes immediately scan for any sign of blood in her hairline, but that's before he spots the mark on her shirt. He's running to her side before he knows it.]
Patricia, what happened? [Now that he's closer, he can see that mark even better. It doesn't make him feel relieved, though. That's a telltale sign of a gunpowder burn, but where is the wound? He gently reaches out to her, putting a hand on her arm in hopes to not startle her before he reaches up to smooth her hair back with his other hand. She's so very lucky he wants to pretend he didn't hear a remark about a knife.]

Bullets don't just leave a singe on your clothing. They rip through cloth and flesh. [The thought that it just bounced off her is baffling to him.]
Is this a little trick the Plane is pulling? Or did that Loki guy do this to you like he did with that tiger?

See this? [she holds up her arm, showing the bullet-shaped scorch mark on her sleeve] I got shot--and it bounced off. And I thought, you know, that's strange! Maybe I should look into that. So that's what I'm planning to do.
[she wouldn't be quite so flippant with just anyone, but Hawk doesn't seem the type that's easy to shock. and knowing him, she doesn't think she'll have to explain what she has in mind either]
no subject
[He peers at the mark, leaning forward a touch, then straightens, rocking on his feet a little.]
I can't imagine anyone wouldn't wonder about it. And it makes more sense than this being a sudden decision to try out for a knife-throwing competition.
[he gives her a quick grin, though, and reaches for one of his daggers, offering it to her hilt-first.]
