[Firo appears on the Plane making an 'owf@#!' face. He is hanging on to his arm, which already appears to have healed over... except for his hand. He stares at it. It is missing three fingers.]

....damn.

[ Frowns. ] Not something you'd normally think you'd miss, I guess. At least you didn't get turned immortal at ten. I can imagine that would get awkward after a while.

Yeah, you'd think. I just wonder... [He pauses and moves to scratch his head before remembering--right, no fingers.] Well, it doesn't matter.

[ She tips her head, curious, then nudges him gently with her elbow. ] You wonder what? Spill.

[Looks away, his perpetual smile faltering a bit.] I don't... it's nothing, really. I just think too much.

[ She watches him a bit, then turns her attention back to her chocolate. ] Is Maiza a friend of yours?

Yup! [Chocolate is tasty.] He's one of the first immortals. I think he's something like two-hundred forty now? I dunno. He doesn't talk about his age.

I can imagine after that long, you'd lose track.

Yeah, I s'pose so. [Decides to sit down and makes himself as comfortable as possible while still missing three fingers.] What's your world like? I remember you saying there's a snow field, and the city--your mother keeps it warm? How's she do that?

[ She plops down next to him and hums in thought. ] Well, there are a lot of different places in my world. Altena's on the northern most continent. My family has kept the city warm for hundreds of years. We use our magic to keep the fire in the city furnace going.

Wow. [Finishes off the chocolate bar and licks his fingers.] Lot of responsibility. Does it... I mean, is it hard? Knowing that's what you're going to be doing and stuff?

It's a little daunting. Though the idea of keeping counsel and preventing other kingdoms from invading is a little scarier. Thankfully I'm friends with the queen of Rolante and the prince of the Beast Kingdom. And I have a friend who serves in Forcena's army. [ She offers him another chocolate, noticing he's finished his. ] I've had enough with wars for a lifetime or two.

[Accepts.] Sounds a bit like me. My best friends are part of a rival family. God good relations with them. Things are hard now, though. Everybody's killing everyone else. Rumors about what happened getting out, I guess. stirred up the neighborhoods. [He stares at his finger stubs.] I hate fighting normal people.

[ She sighs. ] My kingdom invaded my friend Duran's at one point. Things are better now, my mother and Koren aren't under the Dragon Emperor's spell anymore, but sometimes I wonder if Forcena will ever forgive Altena. We don't need more rivalry.

[ She doesn't know what to say to his "normal people" statement, and instead touches the back of his injured hand with her fingertips, hoping the gesture will be comforting, as it's intended. ]

[He can't help liking the fact that she isn't afraid to touch him, even though he's missing fingers.] I'd like to see it. Your city. When I'm not all missing bits. See those snow fields! I've never been far out of New York City myself.

[ Pffft, she's seen worse. ... Maybe. ] Can we do that? Visit each other's worlds, I mean?

[Thoughtful face.] I dunno. I'd like it, though. I'd like to show you New York. [:D] It's not all fighting and guns and stuff. It's the best city in the world! Well, my world.

[ big smile! ] I'd like that, too. Is New York a big place?

Huge! Always something to do. The clubs are great fun, specially if you know where to find the good ones--the speakeasies and gin mills and such. The Empire State building--tallest skyscraper in the world, it is. Just finished! Can see eighty miles from the top on a clear day. Some great shows in town, too, and Central Park is a treat, if you can avoid Hooverville. [He is getting more excited the longer he talks.] Can take carriage rides through it. Ennis loves that.

[ She giggles at his enthusiasm. ] It sounds a lot more exciting than Altena is.

Oh, I dunno. [Leans forward, still grinning.] Never been there! [Chews his lip.] I wonder if there's a way to visit? I wish I knew more about this place...

[ She's still nibbling on her chocolate. ] We could always give it a try, once your hand is healed. I can take Mochi here and back home if I hold him, maybe we'd just need to hold hands?

Maybe! Like bringing stuff, only bringing people.

[ She thinks to herself a little bit. ] I wonder how I could sneak you around the castle, though. Even when my tutors aren't breathing down my neck, there are guards and other people everywhere.

[Mischief; he has it.] We could manage! Sneak into the city and have yourself a day off. [Leaning back again.] Or we could see if we can't get you in to New York. I could show you around, take you to a show.

[ She smiles. ] It's worth a try. If we get in hot water, we can always come back here, anyway!
