[Misaki doesn’t so much appear on the Plane as get thrown onto it, accompanied by the sound of an explosion, abruptly cut off, and twists of flame leaping from nowhere that vanish as soon as she hits the not-floor. Her raid helmet tumbles off, leaving her sweaty, tangled hair to dangle in her face.

She’s on her side, hand pressed hard against her collarbone. Dark, ugly arterial blood the color of polished mahogany slimes up between her fingers and dribbles down the back of her hand. Each breath sounds like someone coughing air through a soaked paper bag.

She rolls onto her back. Whispers,] Idiot. You idiot.

[A pink bubble forms around the word and bursts at the corner of her mouth, and she starts coughing.]

[She laughs again, then chokes and can't stop coughing. The feeling of lead swirls into her gut, and she gives him an unfocused look.] Well. That's it, I... think. See...
