02- From Bad to Worse

[Jack appears on the Astral plane, his coat gone. The front of his shirt is covered in blood, and he looks more dazed than anything, half wondering half stumbling. He mumbles to himself as he walks, an almost blank look on his face] Their dead. I couldn't even save Rhys for Gwen, and now so man people are dead. Why doesn't the blood come off......

[ooc: *cough* Do to his recent interaction with Simm!Master, Jack's mental state has gone from somewhat bad but manageable, to  a few steps from just loosing it completely. Which, of course, reflects on his reality, which in turn makes things worse >>

Oh, and just for the record; any post before this is basically pre!return, so he'll be his normal self there u-u]

How? Well, that would be...{She can't think of how to explain it, so she just lets go of his arm. Diva brings her hand to her mouth, biting into her hand hard for more than just the sharp fangs to puncture the skin. She pulls her hand away for him to see the flesh, move and even seem to bubble slightly as the skin and muscle heals the small wounds quickly.}

[he watches, surprise clear in his eyes] I'd never met anyone else...

{Licks up the stray blood on her hand, but otherwise, her skin is as perfect as it had been a few moments ago} Well, I live with a few people like me, so I can't say the same. But they're the same as me. I doubt that Jack is a Chiropteran, so that means that Jack is different.

{Cheerfully} What is Jack if he doesn't die either?

Ah~ And I was excited too. It's nice in a way to meet people that aren't human. They seem to understand a few things a bit more~ Ne, but Jack is pretty close, so...

How long have you been alive?

Two thousand years.

Ooh wow~~ {Claps her hands together excitedly} And you've been awake for that whole time? How neat! You must have seen quite a bit in all of that time! Ah, the beginning of the world, really~

[shakes his head] Traveled to time, and I was only really alive for about two hundred; spent the rest dying of suffocation underground.

{A slight twitch of her lips, a falter of her smile, is the only indication that she doesn't like that information} Dying? Did someone trap you in the ground?

[simply nods, not saying anything]

{Considers it for a few moments before she closes her eyes, speaking a bit more softly, but the chiming, playful tone not entirely gone either} Then Jack and I are pretty similar, I guess. I wasn't buried underground, but...Well, we can just say that I know what it's like to be trapped somewhere where all you can do is die.

[he looks down at her, a bit more focus coming into his eyes]...wy are you immortal, how do you survive?

{Diva thinks about it for a few moments before she opens her eyes to look at him} I survive because I want to live. Well, it's even worse because my kind of immortality comes with one side-effect that's especially mean; I can only stay awake for three years at a time. Then I have to sleep, or, hibernate is a better word, for thirty years.

So there's a lot of "living" that I miss. I can make friends in the three years that I'm awake, but once I wake up again, it's like starting over again. Those people have either died or disappeared from me by then. I can be immortal and take any kind of pain that gets thrown at me because I really want to live, even if I can't.

[remains quiet for a long moment, looking at her]....I waited for someone for almost two hundred years; Waiting for thirty years would be nothing...

[shakes his head] Friend means lover and brother and everything; I have very few friends.

{Doubtfully}...Really?
