The Road Not Wanted

[A massive, primitive-looking creature appears on the Plane, vaguely resembling a snow leopard, but bigger. Stockier. With longer, shaggy fur. It's paws are huge; its teeth long enough that a half-inch of fang protrudes down from its upper lip. Its tail is a long gray plume.

A glint of metal peaks from the nest of hair on the crown of its head. A spark plug, embedded in its skull. Cy shakes herself, the smell of snow and thick musk rolling off of her. When she speaks, her voice is deep and rich and wild.]

I fell in. Fell in? The pool should be covered, the Road should be blocked. How could I just fall in?

[Stares at her a bit shocked. Not that he isn't used to animals turning big and vicious though...] When did you get so big?

Hehe, I guess I am pretty small compared to you. So, umm, can you let me up before you squish me?

[Rolls off of him and onto the floor of the Plane.]

[Sits up wincing because getting tackled by something that big hurts, then turns and pets Cy] So, how did you get so big?

[Rolls onto her back.] Running the Wild Road. Should've gone away by now.

[Scratches her chin] Wild Road, hmmm? What's that?

[Mrrt. All of this explaining.] It's... The Road. The path of the first cat, the path of all since. Goes everywhere and nowhere. The world's life blood, the cat's life blood, the place where everything wakes up to itself.

[Scratching the kitty with the nice soft furs] This Wild Road of yours sounds important.

[Nom nom scratchings.] S' everything, Domino. S' the whole point.

[Scratches for kitty] Can this Road change you back? Or is this your real size?

[Leans into his hands, thoughtful.] I... dunno. S' dangerous, to stay this way. Not supposed to happen. But the Road's the thing, and it brings it on, so I dunno.

So...you're big until the Road lets you get small again? [Is amused by Cy's responses to his scratching]

[Rolls over again and puts her head in his lap.] The Road doesn't 'let' or not, just is. Doesn't try or want. [Massive kitty sigh.] I dunno.

[Big fuzzy head in lap! One with...really big teeth.] So you'll just have to wait and see what happens?

[She yawns, showing off the really big teeth.] Patience don't be my cup of tea.

[Nervous laugh] I guess you'll just have to learn how to be patient then.
