[please take note: the Brigadier is on the Astral Plane - but not as he usually is. no, this time, he's here with his desk and his paperwork... and he's asleep. the Brigadier has popped off to the Astral Plane to catch up on sorely needed sleep without losing any time. his cap is laying off to the side, his hair is slightly mussed, and he's still got a pen in one hand]

[Donna is quietly squeeing in her head and tiptoes up to him and starts moving things around on his desk so he can sleep easier. SHE'S BEEN A TEMP. SHE KNOWS DESK SLEEPING WELL]

[Brig is quite out of it - you know him, rarely sleeps. he probably runs on coffee, after all, he does keep a coffeemaker in his room in the TARDIS (and in all his offices). so now that he's asleep, he's asleep and totally oblivious to his desk being rearranged]

[Donna probably knows this. She does live with him. And yet she never sees him sleep. She long suspected he was a zombie in disguise. Still, seeing him sleeping all cutely makes it very tempting to poke him. And now she's giggling as she rapidly files his papers]

[he is so not a zombie, Donna. he has a pulse, thank you. he stirs just a bit at the giggling, but doesn't wake up. he's probably a light sleeper]

[Oops. And since she thinks she woke him up, she leans in closer and pokes him lightly] Brigadier?

Nnn?

Sorry, I didn't really mean to wake you up. But sleeping on a desk usually isn't all that comfortable.

[awwww, it's a cute sleeping Brig! the TARDIS finds this frightfully amusing for some reason and watches him, laughing quietly]

[the Brig sits up and rubs his eyes]

Mmm... no worries, Miss Noble. Gotten used to it over the years.

You usually sleep on your desk?

[nudges him] You can call me 'Donna', you know.

[well, he wouldn't call it cute so much as just really crashing from being up too late and too long, but to each their own. after all, the Brig is busy, well, being asleep]

[he stretches] Either the desk or the couch at home.

[he flashes a tired grin] Old habits.

[it's still cute, even if it's from exhaustion. remember, her driver hardly ever sleeps, so she's got a bit of an infatuation with watching men she fancies all tuckered out. it's also a great opportunity for her to look through the Brig's papers and see what he's working on]

[those papers? oh, those are all papers relating to battle and war. there's one brewing, or so the Brig expects, and there are countless sketched out strategies of the same areas, over and over with different layouts. number-crunching and casualty estimates, the ones with the lowest numbers have checks next to them]

[oooo, the TARDIS looks through every document, calculating the numbers and mapping out maneuvers and strategies that might diminish the numbers the Brig has, quite accurately, estimated. after a while, she grabs a pencil and absently begins sketching out some of her ideas, knocking down numbers here and there]

[only you could get away with altering the Brig's battle plans, TARDIS~]

[yes, well, that's because she's brilliant~ and she's trying to help him save lives, after all! though she probably should have asked permission first. doesn't mean she isn't going to move on to other plans and start scribbling all over those. if only the Brig wasn't in the way so she could properly use the desk]

The beds on the TARDIS are pretty nice. Better than most couches and probably desks, too.

[laughs] I don't want to sound old and single, though!

[yes, she is. and sorry, TARDIS, but the Brig needs to sleep sometimes, though he is stirring a bit]

I know. Was just in the middle of working, needed a bit of a break.

Now, I don't think showing a lady proper respect is making her sound 'old'.

[she doesn't really care about your sleeping needs, Brig :/ she does, however, notice him stirring and stops her scribbling long enough to watch him, leaning over so her face is right near his] Brigadier?

[he opens an eye to stare at her] Hm?

[gives him a brief smile before shuffling his papers about and going back to marking them] I've adjusted your battle plans. I hope you don't mind.

Might need some tea, then.

I dunno, I don't want to be past my expiration date.

[suddenly much more alert] What? [and he proceeds to go over what has been done, eying them carefully] Mmm. ...I thought I had gone over all the possibilities...

[he flashes her a grin] No, no, of course not.
