[otherness]

[What is this? It's cold, it's white, it's wet. It's strange. He remembers it, sort of, from Sora's memories, but he can't quite place the name. He couldn't, until York terrified him enough that he faceplanted into it.

Now that Roxas has made peace with it, he's having fun in the snow.

There's an area where a lot of it is stamped down. The reason is readily obvious: there's a trail going in circles, with Roxas standing at the end. He has a lumpy oval for the base of a snowman, and it's kind of pointy? He's trying to figure out how to round it. He keeps rubbing it down with his hands, but he lost his gloves a while back and his hands are cold. He's not doing much but clawing uselessly and getting frustrated.

The rest of him is cold too, actually. He's all red cheeks and red nose and red fingers, stumbling and shivering his way toward basic snowman completion.]

( well, it looks like more than just his brother are enjoying the snow for all it's meant to be - but it looks like if roxas stays out here much longer without proper clothing, he won't be enjoying much of anything beyond some pretty killer frostbite.

yukio watches the blond for a moment, then decides to pipe up. )

Aren't you cold?

( ah, the keenest of observations. pointing out the obvious. or what he thinks should be the obvious. )

[Roxas blinks and turns to see someone he hasn't seen before. Doesn't surprise him, but he's not sure what to make of that expression, really.]

Yeah, but... I've been working on this snowman all day. If I walk away, someone might melt it.

[gokuri]

( no one really knows what to make of yukio when they first meet him. don't feel bad. it's ... just kind of something you get used to after a while.

you never know, he might start reminding you of riku. )

... What kind of someone would just come along and melt a snowman?

( important questions, man. )

[Oh god one Riku is enough.]

Someone chopped all the trees down on the beach. I wouldn't put it past them to melt a snowman, too.

[darkercalling]

[Riku's... enjoying the snow, mostly. He likes watching everyone else roll around in it, at least. He doesn't really feel the need to do anything with it himself. Honestly, he's just glad that it's just snow and not some other weird Plane thing...

He finds Roxas at the end of that little path, and when he gets close enough to notice that the other boy is definitely not dressed for this... He shakes his head.]

Your fingers will fall off if you keep that up.

[He reaches with one hand to try and pat down one of the pointy bits for him.]

What happened to your gloves?

[Roxas brightens when Riku approaches, which is kind of a change considering where they were a while ago. But the mothering makes his cheeks turn a bright red, and he shoves his hands down into the pockets of his coat and looks away.]

I-I don't know. I lost a lot of things here and there, when I was locked up... so...

[And he hasn't bothered asking for new ones, because he doesn't think it's a big deal.]

[darkercalling]

[Just don't call him out on mothering. He'll deny it 100%.]

I bet you could find some new ones. Especially since we're not exactly staying in one place anymore.

[He crosses his arms, still looking over the huge, lopsided ball of snow.]

Is this... the start of a snowman?

[otherness]

I don't know where to buy them. There's the shop, I guess, but...

[Roxas hunches his shoulders.]

... It's bad, isn't it?

[darkercalling]

Yeah. There's no way to tell if there are strings attached or not.

[Oh my God don't do that dsjfkl you're kinda like him, just before he gets all huffy instead And anyway, hell if he can talk about proper snowman technique - he's a beach kid... So he shakes his head.]

I can't tell. It's not like I've tried making one before. It didn't snow on the islands. I always kind of wished it would, just once. ... Want help finishing it?

[Roxas no. R o x a s n o.]

Take a break before your fingers freeze and fall off.

[She's unbuttoning her own cloak as she approaches, intending to toss it around him when she gets close enough.]

[THAT gets Roxas to pull his hands away from the snow immediately.]

F-fall off?!

[He won't dodge the cloak, at least, though he might look a little pouty. He was having fun! Sort of.]

If you leave them exposed to cold long enough, yeah.

[She digs some gloves out of the cloak's pocket and offers them to him] Takes awhile for that to happen though, and I don't think it's quite cold enough.

( yu can't say he's ever made a snowman before – though, watching roxas has him thinking that it might be something nanako would enjoy once the weather gets colder. it's something he'll have to remember once the snow starts falling back in inaba.

the snow on the plane had been something of a surprise, truth be told, and he's dropped back to his own reality a few times since its fall to retrieve some warmer clothing; he's now trodding through the powdery white stuff in a proper coat and boots, a pair of gloves are tucked carefully away inside his coat should he need them. ( and since he isn't fooling around with the snow, he doesn't, and seeing how red the blond's hands are … )

he steps up, keeping a bit of distance if only because he's about to offer a pair of gloves to someone he's never met before just because it seems like a nice thing to do. ) Your hands must be cold. ( it's offered offhand, just a comment, but then he's reaching to retrieve the gloves and hold them out to roxas. )

Unless frostbite is what you're going for. ( meet yu narukami, roxas. he's got, um. an interesting sense of humor. )

[Roxas doesn't see Yu sneak up, but he hears the crunching of snow. He expects to be ignored-- that's generally what happens, he is very easy to pass over-- but then the boy's voice reaches toward him, and he can't help paying attention.]

Er... [Roxas isn't very good at talking to people who aren't his best friends already, and it's clear he doesn't know what to do in this instance. He glances down at the gloves, then at Yu.] N... no, not really. I lost my gloves, so I tried making a snowman without them.

You're giving these to me? But you don't know me.

[The Doctor loves snow. Loves it to pieces. In fact, he's made at least a dozen snow angels and snowmen in the coliseum, and has enjoyed many a cup of hot chocolate. So it's honestly no surprise that the moment he sees Roxas building a snowman with no gloves, he comes right over.]

Oi, that's no way to build a snowman! [He grins, his cheeks also rosy, and brandishes a pair of bright blue gloves.] You've got to keep your hands warm!

[otherness]

[Roxas looks up to see the Doctor and a pair of gloves. He's not sure he gets the implication-- and then it hits him.]

Wait... are those for me? But-- but don't you need them?

[Oh no, now he's getting all flustered-- rosy cheeks turning a deep shade of red.]

Nope! They're yours! I've got loads of pairs. Never know when you'll need to cover your hands, you know?

I should have some earmuffs somewhere as well... [After putting the gloves in Roxas' hands--because he's not going to take 'no' for an answer!--he starts to dig in his coat pockets.]

[otherness]

You don't have to--

[But there are gloves in his hands now and they are REALLY WARM compared to the snow, so he just kinda shuts up and puts them on.]

Um... thanks. You're really helpful. [This is the second time.] What was your name again?

[Yeah, he does have to. Because now he knows the shoe is on the other foot. How many years has it been since he's seen that other Roxas...? A small, wistful smile crosses his features, even though he can't remember now. But they'd met and Roxas had met so many other versions of himself before then. Rekindling the friendship--even with a different version of the same person--isn't the kind of opportunity one can get, even someone as long-lived as him.]

Oh, sorry, where are my manners? [He stops looking his pockets and offers a hand to him.] I'm the Doctor. I'm glad to see you and Riku eventually parted ways, by the by.
