004 - Undercover

[Misaki shows up on the Plane, next to where she left her kitchen table during her first visit. There’s a stack of files and a large, crumpled-up map under her arm; once again, she looks very, very pissed.
She slams the files down and spreads the map across the table; it’s an overview of Tokyo, marked with red and blue dots in eight locations (four of each), and outlined in a grid. She weighs the corners down with a few polished rocks from her pockets and sits, dragging the files toward herself.]

[Dino has a cautious respect for Misaki. He figures as long as he doesn't mention anything illegal, things are fine. So he wanders over to peek over her shoulder] Working on a case?

A particularly nasty one, yes. [Flips one of the files open and considers its contents.] A child-killer.

[That causes Dino to tense. He does not like those who go after innocences] Any leads on him?

None that have led anywhere. [Rubs her forehead.] I don't think I've slept through the night in a month.

[Dino glances at the map. He can figure out what it means easily enough] I hate people like this, the ones who go after those who can't fight back. [He reaches for a file. He wants to help, would be helping hunt this guy down if something like this happened in his turf.]

[She rests her hand on the files.] Please don't, Dino-san. I appreciate it, but... [She shrugs, looking very tired.]

[He pulls his hand back slowly] Is there anything I can do?

[Rubs her eyes.] I don't know, since I don't really know what you do do.

[Shakes his head] What I do isn't something I want people here to know about. [Sighs] My information probably wouldn't work in your world anyway. Want me to get you coffee or something though? I can at least do that much.

[Props her chin in her hand. There's a looooong silence.] I understand. Thank you for the offer, though. [Tiny grin.] And coffee would be wonderful.

[Disappears from the Plane for a few minuets, then comes back with a cappuccino] Here. I hope you like these.

[She accepts with a grateful smile.] I'm glad you wanted to help me. It put certain of my own fears at ease, as far as you are concerned.

Me neither. [She takes a sip and scorches her tongue.] Ah! Oh. [Contemplates the cup.] This is really good.

[Amused] Be careful, its hot. It's from a little shop near my house that I swear makes the best coffee in all Italy.

[She shakes her head, a sort of bemused grin on her face.] I am drinking a cappuccino from a little shop in another reality's Italy. Ten minutes ago, I was in Japan.
