004 - Undercover

[Misaki shows up on the Plane, next to where she left her kitchen table during her first visit. There’s a stack of files and a large, crumpled-up map under her arm; once again, she looks very, very pissed.
She slams the files down and spreads the map across the table; it’s an overview of Tokyo, marked with red and blue dots in eight locations (four of each), and outlined in a grid. She weighs the corners down with a few polished rocks from her pockets and sits, dragging the files toward herself.]

My murderer. [She glares at the map.] We finally IDed the last victim. A friend of the governor's daughter. The Superintendent General is on my department for results--though of course he can offer no more support than is already available.

Does the ID give you any links between victims or is it still random?

[She shakes her head.] Still random, though I find it hard to believe that picking up a friend of the governor's daughter was an accident. He's laughing at us.

Hnn. [takes a long drag, then crushes the cigarette under his heel and walks over to look at the map a little closer] And they're all different neighbourhoods. Anything at all that connects the victims? Social class, money, parents' jobs, colour of their hair, anything?

[Rubs her forehead.] Not a damn thing, except a blue glow seen at the sight of three of the abductions and two of the body drops.

[A quirk of amusement at the phrase. It's not one she's heard before.] I suppose you could say that. [She rubs her eyes.]

Wish I wasn't so tired. I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

[gives her a long look, then nods and claps a hand on her shoulder] C'mon, luv. I know a good Indian restaurant. Let's go grab a bite, take your mind off things.

She stands and gathers the files, leaving the map where it is. It's a bother, and she has a dozen of them anyway.]
