[ Since there was no answer from the man who shouted when the stars went out, the Doctor's taken to wandering, holding firmly onto his small torch as he lights his way. One, to find Jamie or Victoria or... anyone he knows, and two, to try and figure this out because he'll be damned if he relies on someone who hides in the darkness to fix this for them.

He goes for the information kiosk first, but there's nothing to find there. Power outage, is the conclusion. ]

Do stars go out from power outages?

[ After that, he can be found anywhere on the Plane. There's light if you need it, even if it's not all that strong. He could be able to help in keeping alive.

Not necessarily with the light. More likely running. ]

[ He approaches the force field, casually. ]

[she moves the torch slowly, trying to catch the shimmer as much as possible so he can see that it's there] Try it, if you like.

[seeing as she stuck her hand in it as a nine-year-old, she knows that much is safe. in fact, she'd do it herself, but since the Doctor is already moving in, she seizes the opportunity to check around them, making sure none of those creatures are sneaking up]

[ How could he resist? So. Yes. Walking up to the force field and reaching out towards it. ]

[meanwhile, Menzies thinks she hears something. she wanders a few steps away, sweeping the torch across the area. since she already knows what he'll find, she's much more interested in making sure they're not interrupted]

[ ... Hm. ]

A force field, was it? I wonder...

[grip_on_reality]

[hearing his muttering, she calls back:] It's like gravity. Not sure 'ow it runs, but I wouldn't like to think what it would do if you tried to step into it.

Mm. A gravity field. Bit different.

[ Wonder if it's natural or not. Hard to tell. ]

[she lets him do his analysis, staying on watch while she waits]

[ He walks a whole lap around it, once, twice, stares at it some. Tries his sonic screwdriver at it, with no particular result. Paces in front of it for a while.
