Entrez vous.
[He thought it'd be 'one of those days' when it'd started with the hazy realization that he'd had a horrible nightmare. Worse than the nightmares about Newfoundland. Even worse than the nightmares about England. Perhaps he should have just stayed home, but there's no use regretting.
He stands in the midst of the starfield - the Astral Plane - and after carefully looking around him reaches into his pocket for his phone. As expected there is no signal, but it still seems to be working otherwise. He dearly would like to know if America has found his way here as well, but he resists the urge to call despite no bars, or to call out. With a wan smile he huffs softly to himself.]
It's not like I need him to sort this for me.
[Pocketing the phone again he looks up to see an information kiosk has appeared not too far away. He approaches it, eager to know more about this place. When prompted by the sign he speaks up,]
Help, please. [Although it is all automated, it doesn't hurt to be polite.]
[He reads Broderick Naismith's brochure twice, then folds it up and places it in his jacket pocket. He tilts his head thoughtfully as he speaks softly to himself- a habit he will tell you helps him organize his thoughts.]
I like experiments well enough, but not so much being in them. Still, it would be rather interesting to meet people from other worlds... Science fiction has become reality. [He pauses for a long moment as his mind wanders through the possibilities.] There would be so much I could learn. And seeing as time has stopped back home – or I will be returned to the same time – there are no worries about something happening there... It wouldn't be good for me to be away from home for long though, no matter the time shenanigans going on.
Yes. Then, let's see who I can find.

Yes. Then, let's see who I can find.

Are you doing okay learning about all this?

He lifts his eyes to smile reassuringly at North though, consciously trying to banish the dark expression from his face.]
Better that I learn it from you than the hard way. I didn't know what I was stepping into when I came through that door, but now that I'm here, information like this will be essential.

It's a lot at once, but you'll be better prepared in case anything happens to you down the road from now. And...it isn't all bad. I've gotten to meet some very great and kind people here.
[Oh hey, they're finally at the bar! North holds the door open for Canada to head on in.]

I was initially rather optimistic about this experience, so I'm glad to hear the good things too. And having an ally or two always helps.

These days, we've got to stick together. I've made some good friends here. [He smiles faintly.] Maybe even someone I like.
So, what'll you have? The bar has anything you can think of--even stuff I've never heard of before. I think some of it's alien or from really different realities than ours.
no subject
Thank you, I think I'll stick with something relatively known. If I may have a nice bottle of red wine, that'll be just fine.
Have you tried some of the other stuff?

And uh, I've thought about it once or twice, but I don't want to take a chance it'll mess with my body in any way. Last thing I want to do is turn up drunk. [He laughs, then reaches up to remove his helmet, setting it on the counter.] I think I'll just stick with a beer for now. [His voice is much clearer now with the helmet off, revealing him to be a blond-haired and blue-eyed human with a warm smile.]

He glances up when North's voice becomes more clear, seeing his face. Ah, it's kind of a relief to not be talking to a visor.]
And I'll go with this one, please. [He picks up a small slender bottle of French dessert wine and rests it in his hands for a moment, thinking of Papa, before handing it to North.]
One of these days I'll have to peruse the collection, especially if there are more things like this. And we just... help ourselves? It feels a bit strange to not be paying.
no subject
Yeah, we just help ourselves. Whatever it is that stocks this place does so pretty immediately if we use any of it. It auto-refills. Every now and then, the stock will change, and it always depends on when someone new arrives. So if there's a vintage you really like back home, you'll probably be able to find it here soon enough.
Ah, there we go. [He finally finds the corkscrew and has the cork out in a flash.] Just say when. [He begins to pour, and when Canada says so, he'll stop pouring, put the bottle down, and start looking around for a beer to try.]
no subject
I look forward to it.
Anything else that might be immediately useful for a newbie like me to know?
no subject
Nothing that comes to mind. Just be ready for any kind of thing to happen.
