☾ one ☽
[bewilderment doesn't even begin to cover what he feels once he steps foot on the plane. despite not knowing where he is, why he is where he is – a scowl is sliding over the line of his mouth as it most often does, dark brows furrowing above hazel eyes, and he's stepping forward. there's hesitance, a voice in the back of his mind telling him that he needs to find some answers before he goes traipsing around an unknown area.
but those eyes seem to see everything. he's taking it all in, from the stars in the floor that give the surrounding area a luminescent aura to the information kiosks – which he blatantly ignores in favor of wandering further. the mansion is what ends up catching his attention enough to halt his steps, hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans as he stares up at it, and there is a moment in which it reminds him too much of his family home, wrapped and in a constant state of disrepair because the years haven't been kind, and he hasn't been able to keep it up despite the time he's spent in beacon hills since his return.
of course, the automatic connection he makes with the two only makes sense in that they both harbor a feeling of emptiness. and that is something that he would care more to leave behind than anything as he continues, a low noise rumbling in the back of his throat.
once he reaches the edge of the forest, the tightness in his chest dissipates the slightest bit. this .. this feels more like home. or like something familiar – and given how strange everything else feels here, derek thinks that this might be the only thing he can connect to that might give him some semblance of belonging.
not that he will ever admit as much out loud. no one needs to be aware of the constant feeling of disconnection with the rest of the world.
he steps past the first line of trees, inhaling deeply – and finding that it doesn't smell like anything he's ever encountered before. the trees might look real, the sky above him clear as a bell, but there is something off about this place, and he has every intention of finding out just what it is.
he takes yet another breath, lets it out slowly, and continues walking.]

She actually hasn't even seen Derek yet. Too busy running and, you know, ignoring existence.
Do try not to startle her? She'd get a little pissy~]
i need more lurking in the shadows icons. :|
sorry, wolf hearing be damned, he didn't hear that part.
he sees her much sooner than she would have otherwise seen him, able to smell her from a distance - and not at all in a creepy way, thank you - and given that he hasn't met anyone else here yet, he approaches her silently.
like the creeper he is.but even though he sees her, he's going to wait to see if she notices him. because that .. that is just how he does things.]
no subject
She immediately goes on guard - he can probably feel her tense up before she even stops running and looks right at him, one eyebrow raised, one hand on her hip and the other loosely at her side.]
What?
this is pretty accurate.
he raises his brows at her in return, folding his arms and leaning against a tree trunk.] What do you mean, what?
[best. comeback. ever.]
oh gods are they going to have a staredown...
YEP.
he was here first.] Sure you weren't staring at me?
[hmmmmmmm?]
/FACE IN HANDS
Uhhh, yeah. I was watching the trees. Definitely more to look at.
[Bring it, boy.]
i'm not even sorry for this. also this icon is perfect for his current expression.
excuse you he is the epitome of physical perfection how dare you think the trees have more to look at!his eyes narrow, and he huffs out a short breath.] Fine. Tell me where I am, then.
[as always, so motherfucking polite.]
oh derek. I am so sorry.
[r u d e, South.]
hateshipping these two lmfao asdlkh
because he doesn't
ask nicely
oops.
his eyes narrow. it's on] I'd think about asking more nicely if I thought you deserved it.
lmfao it's pretty easy to do already isn't it /cough
She waves a hand dismissively.]
Stay lost, then. I sure as hell don't care. You interrupted my run, anyway.
no subject
He lifts his head as someone crunches through the woods.]
You don't look familiar, [the soldier says very plainly.]
no subject
he sniffs the air, takes in the scent of metal and leaves and earth, and his gaze narrows.] Probably because I've never been here before. [he says it in a flat, emotionless tone.] Where am I?
no subject
This is the Astral Plane. Despite the name, it's more like the inside of a machine. If you think about it you can shift between here and your world like nothing happened.
[Asch smells like sword polish, grass, and military uniforms. There's another feeling to him, like a soft humming, more felt than heard.]
no subject
he listens to the other talk, taking everything in, because it's the most information he's gotten about this place so far.] How the hell can this be inside of a machine?
[yeah, that's the first thing he picks up on. because that just sounds weird.]
no subject
[He studies the stranger. Not closely enough to make him uncomfortable, but to try to get an idea of what sort of world he's from.]
They have ways of monitoring us no matter where we are, and they know things you may not have told anyone.
no subject
he's watching the other studying him, and he does his own contemplation in the meantime. but when he says something about monitoring, his eyes narrow. what could they possibly know about him?] How could they know anything about me? I haven't said anything to anyone.
no subject
Some time ago, I was able to access one of the control panels. They're able to monitor us on our own worlds-- from any location-- and they actively keep files on every single one of us.
[They knew his real name, for starters. And something about his old teddy bear. Seriously, they know everything.]
no subject
[except he's listening to what the other is saying, mouth pulling to the side in one of his trademark scowls, eyes narrowing. so this place has surveillance .. it doesn't surprise him, but it definitely doesn't make him feel any better about being in a place he's never seen before.
he makes a short, gruff noise in the back of his throat.] How do I find out how much they know about me?
[derek.
you could be a little nicer about things.
oh wait.
no you can't.]
no subject
Unless you manage to get into their computer system, it's up for debate. I don't know where they get our records or how. They haven't slipped up since that time.
no subject
And he doesn't have Harriet to talk to about this. He's been through this mess before, and he can't take the chance of letting them know he's on to them if he begins to suspect she isn't the real Harriet. Or hell, even if any of her subordinates or anyone else in Number 10 have been swapped either.
But soon, his thoughts are interrupted when he hears the sounds of footsteps nearby. Curious, he heads towards them (perhaps welcoming the distraction), and sees he isn't alone.]
Ohhh, another new one! Blimey... [First Narvin (even if he doesn't remember being here before), now someone completely new.]
no subject
he hears the doctor coming, though he doesn't bother saying anything until the other speaks up - and when he does, he can only tilt his head to the side in silent contemplation.] Another one? [he asks, clearly confused.]
Do random people show up here often?
no subject
Anyway! I'm the Doctor. And you are...? [He holds his hand out. If Derek can feel such a thing in a handshake, he just might be able to feel the Doctor's double heartbeat.]
no subject
he wouldn't have to feel it through the handshake itself; if he listens carefully enough, he can hear it. and it just has him tilting his head, gaze narrowing.] Derek.
[pause, because he's listening to his heartbeat again.] Your heartbeat .. why is it like that? What are you?
no subject
no subject
throwing caution to the wind, and all that.
his brows furrow when the other leans in close, and he leans back a bit.] I just have really good hearing. What the hell is a Time Lord?
no subject
Blimey, I'm not surprised you've never heard of a Time Lord before. You humans--[he uses the term loosely for now]--think you're the only life in the universe! [He wags a finger in Derek's direction now, but in a scolding type of way. Not threatening.] Well! I'm what you lot call "an alien"--but bear in mind that to me, you are the aliens.
[So yes, there's your question answered!--in the vaguest sense of the word.]
no subject
Oh, Odin--!
[Hey there Toothless' perking up next to him from his nap too to stare at the newcomer with huge yellow eyes. Awkward silence ensues.]
no subject
a fucking dragon.
the second he sees it - he doesn't even see hiccup, by the way - he's baring his teeth, eyes briefly flashing red as he takes up a defensive stance.
he doesn't move, not yet, but it wouldn't take much to have him springing forward.]
no subject
Toothless flattens his plates sensing the possible threat. He frowns and slowly raises from his position, ready to bolt.
Hiccup gasps and limps in between them, because that is so not a stupid thing, yes, anyway. He holds up his hands.]
Oh- no no no! No, uuuh-- Toothless- calm down! [Then he turns to the stranger.] Uuuh sorry if he startled you, he's a nice dragon and I know- I know it's against everything that's known about dragons but you have to uuh believe me.
no subject
close enough that he could probably sink his claws into it if he wanted to. but he doesn't. because that could be misconstrued as rude and he's not entirely sure he wants to subject himself to fighting with a dragon the first time he finds himself in a weird, unfamiliar place.
he loosens his stance for a moment, staring down at the one now standing between them.
this has got to be one of the weirdest things that has ever happened to him.] Is that thing yours?
[derek when are you going to learn that that is not the way to make friends and influence people?]
because he needs some feisty pink in his life...
She isn't very far from the edge of the forest, and she's sitting on a low-hanging branch, back to the tree's trunk, lost in her own thoughts. They must not be entirely positive, because while she seems calm enough, she also quietly sighs every now and then.
She plucks a leaf off of the branch jutting just off to her side, stares at it like it has some sort of answers. It's only when her focus shifts like that that she spots Derek coming her way. She straightens a bit, wondering if he's even seen her yet. He doesn't look familiar... Maybe she should drop down and say hello? Aah, she can't make up her mind!]
pink is totally his color. it's his label color for a reason.
which is odd, because he swears up and down that a forest should have a more prominent smell. hell, he should be able to smell all sorts of things, but she's the only thing that stands out.
when he finally spots her, his brows draw together, contemplative. it's not like he's never seen anyone sitting in a tree before, but for some reason, it seems weird in this place.
he still doesn't say anything, even as he shifts better into her field of vision. if she wants to drop down and say hello, now is very much the time to do so.]
perfection~
She stares down at him for a second, since he's just staring up at her, but then she climbs her way down.
Wow, he's tall. fajkslda
But she looks up at him with full confidence anyway, like all is - or should be - well. Clearly, this "little thing" has seen more intimidating things than a newcomer to the Plane, even if he does seem a little... intense? Oh well!]
Is... everything okay?
no subject
(okay, he is, but that isn't the point, here.)
you are very tiny, bright pink thing.
he braces his hands on his hips, regarding her with slightly-raised eyebrows. she asks him a question, and he's surprised that she doesn't automatically put herself on guard, just for the fact that most everyone seems to do so around him.
defense mechanism, maybe?] I'm in a place I've never been to before. I don't know anything about it, don't know anyone here. So .. no, not really.
[waaaaay to go, dipshit.]
no subject
Derek. She's just pink. Deep breaths it'll be okay.]Oh! So you're new here? I wasn't sure. [She nods once, firmly, that that solves everything about how she should be approaching this. She even smiles up at him a little.]
This is the Astral Plane. It's nowhere in your own world - it exists on its own. It's like a place where all of the worlds meet up.
