[grand_gaia]

[There is activity in the colluseium.

It isn't much - just Isaac going through the motions, sword in hand, but it is activity.  His opponent is, as ever, a single wooden pell, and a well-loved and much abused one, by the look of it.

Isaac's swings are slow and deliberate, and he seems to be taking extra care with his footwork, sometimes repeating the same movement five or six times in a row until he's satisfied and moves on.

If you don't want to bother him while he's doing his thing, he stops eventually, re sheathing his sword then plopping down onto the ground to stretch out.

You know you wanna bug him now~]

[Hawk stays back while Isaac moves, watching, and moves closer when he's settled, sitting down close by.]

Good workout?

[Isaac stretches back, catching sight of Hawk as he speaks, and offers back a smile]

Ahh, yeah. And badly needed, believe me.

[desertdaggers]

[he returns the smile, fingers twinging a little.] Has it been a while, then?

[grand_gaia]

Longer than I would have liked. I've been a bit too busy to get in any time lately.

[desertdaggers]

Ahh. [he nods, leaning back] Is there a lot going on at home?

[grand_gaia]

More than I'd like, but I don't think it'll be too much longer...

[And then realizing Hawk probably has no clue what he's on about...] Ah, my whole village had to move a few years ago- we're just finally getting settled now.

[desertdaggers]

[he looks surprised and concerned for a few moments, then settles, eyebrows still pulled together.] That's good to hear. What happened? [Is it likely to happen again?]

[grand_gaia]

Long story short, the mountain our village was built on kinda collapsed. Most of the area around it became uninhabitable too, so we had to move.

Yeah. That's… it wouldn't really be safe around that area after that, would it? Did you all get out all right, or…?

[grand_gaia]

Yeah! Nobody was hurt or killed, but we all lost our homes. It could have been much worse.

[desertdaggers]

Mm. It's good to hear that it wasn't. And with all of you together… you're rebuilding, right? What's it like where you're settled now?

[vengefulagent]

[Wash waits until Isaac is done and has started to do his stretches before he approaches. He knows a training exercise when he sees it, and knows better than to interrupt. Besides, it isn't the first training session he's observed. (Thankfully, there aren't any contraband grenades involved in this one.)]

Hey, nice moves! [He waves a hand as he shouts his greeting. He hasn't moved from his spot in the stadium yet, but on the row next to him, he has a couple guns and a small briefcase resting there that Isaac may be able to see.]

Ah?!

[Isaac cranes his head around to see, and waves back, smiling.] Thanks!

No problem! Hey, stay right there for a second.

[He stands, grabbing his own training materials in one hand, and heads down to join Isaac in the main grounds of the coliseum.] So! Um, what kind of world do you come from? I mean, what do you have to use that sword against?

[grand_gaia]

A pretty impressive amount of monsters, usually. They tend to stay away from towns, thankfully, but I don't want to get lazy just because I don't travel as much anymore.

[vengefulagent]

[He tilts his head, curious] Monsters, huh? So...what kind of monsters? [He's trying not to sound skeptical. There just aren't any monsters (in the classical sense) in his world. (Aliens are totallya different matter.)] I'm Agent Washington, by the way.

Do you want the long list or the short one? There are more then there used to be, and we haven't managed to identify all of them in our area yet.

I'm Isaac. It's nice to meet you.

[They still don't know what they all are? Geez...] How about the ones you always have to keep an eye out for?

Good to meet you, too.

Trolls, wolves, giant insects and those creepy ones that look like mushrooms, mostly, but more have been moving in lately. It'll be awhile before we can figure everything out, I think.

[vengefulagent]

[He takes a step back in surprise] Whoa, wait a minute, really? Trolls?! And what was that about creepy mushrooms?

[grand_gaia]

Yup. Trolls are big, ugly and don't like fire.

Ah, the mushroom-ey ones are much smaller, but you don't notice them until there's a whole swarm usually. We're not quite sure what their deal is, but they have little caps on their head that look like poisonous mushrooms.

[She does want to bug him! She'd come in here to do some target practicing of her own, but when she saw him practicing and decided to patiently wait her turn.

So when he finishes, she steps forward - makes her presence obvious, so as not to startle him.]

Is there a reason you're practicing, or are you the kind who just gets bored and decides to spend his time training?

I was getting restless, actually. I haven't been traveling much anymore, and it's been awhile since I got any practice.
