[015].
[Today, Jamie has a box of decorations in his hands, a slightly bemused expression on his face...and is half-muttering to himself.]
Now, I've seen some strange things in my day, but I'll not say as I've ever seen anything like those wee beasties before. Especially not ones that want that much coffee.
Aye, well. Maybe I'd better set up what I wanted to here. I'd not want to think what'll happen if they turn up again and Victoria sees them.
[Possibly lots of screaming, or indignation, or both. But here he may not have to worry about it, and he can focus on trying to do what he'd planned on before he was interrupted by rude, coffee-drinking aliens. The forest seems like the best place to put things together, and there so happens to be a little clearing that he can use. He sets the box down and reaches into it to try and extract a single string of lights from it to start with, but whoever put it away last time didn't do a very good job. So he winds up with a giant tangled mess in his hands, and his mouth pulls off to one side.]
Och.

Och.

no subject
but not to that extent.] Wow. I can't even imagine what that's like, waking up and not remembering who you are .. how long did it last? Was that the only thing that happened?
[he shouldn't be asking so many questions, but even still, he's working on untangling the lights with quiet determination, making himself useful.]
no subject
[He'd been more than a bit caught up in everything else that was going on, and he grimaces briefly.]
And no, it wasn't the only thing that happened. There were things scattered about the Plane. Ones where if ye came across one, ye might, well, feel things. Fear, mostly. It was like the the place wanted you to be afraid.
no subject
part of him is glad that all this had happened before he'd arrived here. another, deeper part of him is morbidly curious. (that is to say, of course it is, because he's a winchester.)] You know, somehow, that doesn't surprise me. I've been getting a weird vibe from this place, and that .. that fits. Really well.
[pause.] I'm guessing that means that whatever happened during that time, anyone who experienced anything remembers it?
no subject
[He heads back over to the box, rummaging through it until he pulls out a folded paper lantern. Fiddling with it a moment, he manages to get it open and looks at it thoughtfully before glancing back to Sam.]
That's why I'm doing this, ye see. For someone else who'd been here when all that was happening. I remember what happened, and if she remembers as well...aye, well, let's just say that maybe having something here that's nicer might help.
no subject
because he likes having something to do with his hands .. and while he's getting to know jamie, getting to know more about what's been happening on the plane, it's the perfect bit of distraction.
that's .. really nice of him, to want to do something for someone else. it's what sam himself would have done if he'd been in the same position, and that simple fact brings a small smile to his face when he finally looks back up.] That's really nice of you .. you really don't find many people nowadays that still find the merit in doing nice things for other people. It's .. sad.
no subject
Aye, well, for Victoria it's worth it.
[But something in the way Sam says the word sad catches his attention, and he looks at him thoughtfully.]
I take it you've run into a fair few of the other type of people, then?
no subject
.. You could say that, yeah. [that doesn't even begin to cover it, but he's not going to elaborate.]
no subject
At least that's one good thing about being here, I suppose. Ye can come here when ye need to get away from things. Like these wee beasties that decided to show up where we were. They weren't dangerous, not that I could tell, but they were definitely odd.
[He glances over his shoulder for a moment, looking around as if expecting someone else, but then goes back to his lanterns, pulling out another one with a little frown.]
Still not here. Maybe she decided to stay in the TARDIS.
no subject
it's still awkward for them this time of year, but .. hell, things have been worse.are worse, right now.
and jamie is right - he's come to think of this place as something of a reprieve, and finds himself coming here more and more often, despite it meaning that he leaves his brother home alone.] Yeah, I have to say .. being here is kind of like a vacation compared to what I've got going on back home. I wish I could bring Dean here .. he might think it's boring, but .. it's better than there.
[pause.] Does she know to look for you here?
no subject
She should. It's not as though there's too many other places that we're able to go right now.
[He looks slightly uncertain, however.] Although the TARDIS is a big place...aye, well, maybe she'll turn up yet. Or I'll go back and see if I can't find her if she doesn't. Who's Dean, anyway?
no subject
he nods, though, as he continues working at the string of lights.] Couldn't hurt to check - the TARDIS? Is that .. where you're from?
[excuse his ignorance. he knows absolutely nothing. and oh, look, jamie is asking about dean, so it's time to start talking.] He's my older brother.
no subject
[That should be helpful, right? But he does understand the wish to want to bring someone away from something bad that's happening back home, and he nods.]
Aye, if things aren't good where ye are, it's a tempting thought. This place's not always the best place, though, even if that does mean if your brother came here he'd not be bored for long.
[However, it strikes him as curious that Dean might have that sort of reaction in the first place, and he can't help but wonder why.] Ye think he would be bored, though? Most people when they first come here are anything but.
no subject
[and it may come as a surprise that he can appreciate something like that, but .. he can.
as for whether or not dean would find the place boring upon arrival, he really can't help but to think his brother wouldn't find anything particularly interesting about this place, and would probably want to leave as soon as he saw it.
unless he saw the bar first. in which case, he'd be more than happy to stay, he's sure.] He's .. more of an action kind of guy, if that makes any sense. He can't sit still for too long, always has to be moving around doing something, killing something.
[yeah, he just said that.]
no subject
But I know what ye mean by that. I'll not say as I go around killing things, but I don't care to stay still for long myself. There's things here that we've needed to fight, though, so if he did show up there'd be a chance that he'd run across one of them sooner or later.
no subject
it's one of the things he's never really liked about having to move around, doing what he and dean and their father had done for so long. while he's gotten to see pretty much the entirety of the united states, he's never seen anything beyond it. and with the way things are now, he isn't sure if he'll ever get to.] Are the people as nice as I've heard?
[because he's heard that. and you seem pretty nice yourself, so .. he can only infer so much.
and at least there's someone else that is well aware of the feeling of being unable to sit still. he's never really gotten it, himself, at least beyond dealing with how restless dean is on a daily basis, but .. well, what can you do?] See, I'd rather .. I don't know. Be able to stay put for a little while. Have a bit of consistency. [he pauses, thoughtful for a moment.] I guess I can have that here, huh? From what I've seen so far, time pretty much stands still when you're here.
[and it's a really nice reprieve, let him tell you.]
no subject
[There's some nice people, and some not-so-nice, although he can't say as he'd met too many of the latter, at least not when he was growing up.]
But there's plenty of open spaces, at least back in my day, and ye could away from the people ye didn't like so much easily enough.
[And he supposes he understands the wish to stay put for a little while - not so much because it's something he's wanted, but because it's something Victoria wanted. He nods in agreement.]
Yes, that's true. Time does stop there while you're here. And I'll admit, sometimes it is nice to have a place where ye can go and get away from things that happen back home. I'm...er, well, I'm hoping I can convince Victoria of that again after what's happened.
