[Dave had been utterly miserable when he got sick. He'd squirreled himself away but when he returned a few hours ago in place of a young kid is a 33 year old adult in a plain white shirt and pants.

He's presently at the bar with a glass of whiskey. But he hasn't touched the alcohol. Had a few sips but that's it. Every time he goes to lift it to his lips something stops him and he sets the glass back down.]

Ugh. Damn it, it's like the universe is out to be more confusing than usual.

[Where is Rose when you needed her, he thinks a little sourly.]

[There's no mistaking his aura of power, but wasn't Dave only a boy? Mu, although nosing around the bar for some tea leaves, doesn't engage until he's fairly sure it's Dave.]

[He turns his head to look at Mu and there's no recognition in his thoughts or in his body language.] No this is pretty far out there. Normally it gives a warning. I was screwed and I didn't even get a kiss or dinner first. Poor etiquette usually means a pink slip but the universe gives no fucks.
