( a young woman pops up on the Plane, shortly followed by a rather well known Scot. Victoria is looking rather pale and flushed and Jamie appears to be following her. )
( hands touching her cheeks, Victoria, flustered, begins to walk along the Plane — unsure of where she’s really headed at present. one thing is for certain, despite her flushed state she appears to be rather cross. ) How could you let that happen, Jamie McCrimmon!?!
[Jamie trails after, not entirely happy looking himself.] Look, how was I supposed to know that would happen? That woman’d not said anything other than we needed to say the blessing if we wanted to eat! Who told ye to take us over there, anyway?
( spinning on her heel, having halted in her bitter walk, she folds her arms over her chest and puffs her cheeks for a brief moment before bothering to answer him. ) You should have known that something was going to happen because something always happens when we travel with the Doctor! ( she stamped her foot childishly, although she did have a point, something always did happen with that silly old man. )
I don’t know, it was just one of the gentleman at the party. I didn’t ask him for his name, he just seemed to want to help me with — ( her cheeks redden significantly. she almost revealed that she’d been jealous of his attention onto the other ladies there. ) — w, well clearly he had gotten the wrong idea!
Hey! The Doctor wasn’t even there at the time!
[Which could have very well been part of the problem, at least in this case. He likely would have stopped them before it was too late. But he doesn’t point that out, instead focusing on the other person mentioned - and by the way his lips press together, he noticed a few things as well.]
What, that one that looked like he’d lost half his outfit somewhere? Aye, I bet he wanted to help ye with something. Are ye sure he’d not wanted to spirit ye off to the tables himself?
No, but he’d brought us there in the first place, you great idiot! ( had the Doctor been with them at the party, she wouldn’t have to deal with this ridiculous situation and likely wouldn’t be shouting insults at the boy she cared so deeply for. )
Oh — ( with that she rolls her eyes, folding her arms tighter still with a scoff ) Yes, because you weren’t losing yourself into the near bare chests of the girls there, Jamie McCrimmon! ( the excessive use of his full name only shows just how irate she really is, not to mention rather clearly jealous of where his gaze had apparently been. ) Nonsense! He told me to bring you to the table, not asked if I should like to join him. Stop being such an ignoramus!
An ignor... [Oh, she would trot out a word like that. Rather predictably, his mouth pulls off to one side.] Look, how was I supposed to not notice something like what those lassies were wearing? I seem to recall we’ve had that type of conversation before. And, besides, it’s not as though I was married to ye at the time, now was I...Mrs. McCrimmon?
If you can look at the lassies, then I can look at the laddies. ( except she would forever deny even glancing at them, and despite having done so, her gaze would then fall to the ground because of how indecent it was for them to have been dressed in such a manner in the first place. )
I— ( whatever her retort was, it’s lost when he uses his family name at her. she goes through an awkward mixture of both losing color and then blushing furiously. ) That— It wasn’t— We’re not married!! ( no proper ceremony, no proper romancing beforehand. no, oh no. she refuses to see it as a true wedding, despite how very real it is. )
( ooc; this is a result of a trip via the TARDIS gone wrong, resulting with these lugheads being marriedobviously. the arguing will continue in the comments, but, feel free to threadjack should you like. )

So that could be a good reason to...you know, not do this. [he pauses, thinking about how best to handle this situation. he was just joking around, but he's starting to get the impression they're both too stubborn to pull back. and in that case, maybe he should be the one to break it up] You want me to tell Victoria the bad news?
no subject
Look, she may not actually come back with a dress. She might just be waiting to see what we do. But if she does...maybe it's better if I talk to her about it.
[And then she can be mad at him and not Oliver.]
no subject
[especially if this is some sort of ego thing at this point. he can't even tell any more, but he's starting to worry the joke has gotten to the point where they won't get out of it without one or both of them winding up hurt]
no subject
I'm sure. Anyway, I'd rather have her upset with me over it then with you. It's not as though it was your idea to start teasing her about it in the first place.
BOO.
smoothing her hands over the beads on the front of the dress and down over her stomach, she nods to them both rather stiffly. how she got herself into the gown is easier thought than said, but she can pull herself into a corset so it isn't too shocking. at any rate, she's returned and touching her palms together, tells herself to ignore her blush while she turns her focus onto the boys )
Well. I'm prepared, I suggest you go dress as well then, Mister McCrimmon.
Aaaaaah!
Look, Victoria, there's something I need to...
[And then he sees her in the gown, and everything he's about to say goes clear out of his head. If her intention was to stun him into silence, it's worked very well. All he can think of is how beautiful she is right now, and even though he can't manage to say a word, his expression says it for him.]
:'Dc
Something you need to what?
( she might be strong her in tone but her reddened cheeks betray her and soon, she lowers her gaze shyly at his stare. for some reason she hadn't expected him to be that shocked at what she looked like in a gown. truth be told, it was a really pretty dress and even she had been surprised at the Doctor having something so beautiful on the TARDIS. flushed, she chewed her lip gently and clearing her throat softly, which had suddenly gone dry, she shifted her feet beneath the train of the gown )
Jamie... You're staring at me...
no subject
A-aye, sorry. It's just that...
[Seeing her like that is almost enough for him to nearly blurt out what he's thinking, and tell her he thinks she's beautiful. But then the problem he had before where he can't quite manage to admit to what he's feeling comes back, and he hesitates, inadvertently glancing over towards Oliver for a second or two before managing to turn his attention back to Victoria.]
I-I-I didn't think the Doctor had a dress like that in the TARDIS.
no subject
[after that dose of feelings, he means to encourage Jamie to share what he really thinks of that dress. because for a second, he's forgotten they're supposed to be calling the wedding off, too]
no subject
It's just that what, Jamie—? ( come on then, spit it out lad )
Oh, well, neither did I. ( was that what he was trying to say to her? she really hoped not, if so it was ridiculously anticlimactic and somewhat disappointing ) He really does have everything in there, I suppose.
( glancing toward Oliver only made her blush all the more — he was staring too. it was making her feel embarrassed but she managed not to give into her nerves just yet.
she raised her brows when he elbowed Jamie, just what was the other young man trying to get Jamie to say here? for some reason, the encouragement given to the Scot made her blush all the more but for the moment, she said nothing just in case Oliver managed whatever it was he was attempting for here )
no subject
And wh...oh.
[The expression only deepens, because even if Victoria doesn't know why Oliver wound up doing what he did, Jamie does. So much for keeping his emotions to himself.]
Och.
[He turns back to her then, opening his mouth then shutting it briefly as he considers just not saying anything after all. But he suspects that Oliver might very well 'encourage' him some more if he doesn't say anything. So he takes a breath and tries again.]
A-and ye look very beautiful in it, Victoria.
[There. Happy?]
no subject
[he sighs inwardly in relief as Jamie finally gets the words out, but he'll leave the reply up to Victoria]
no subject
she's about to be asked to be let into their gesturing between one another when Jamie finally speaks up and it causes the reddest of all blushes to color her cheeks. trying not to seem as embarrassed about it as she is, Victoria finds herself stumbling over every possible comeback and reply in her mind. did Jamie just really call her beautiful? specifically for being in a wedding gown?
flustered, she continues to search for the perfect reply but in the end her politeness overrules everything else and shyly, she responds with a simple yet stuttered: )
Th, Thank you.
no subject
It's just...I can't marry ye. Not for real. [Not right now.]
I-I'm sorry.
no subject
no subject
...I...
( wasn't he the one that had been so adamant about being married in the first place? what had happened anyway? she frowns, feeling winded )
...I didn't want to... m, marry you anyway...
( the words are all but gasped from her lips and she's doing all that she can to keep from sobbing, suffice to say she's not taking being 'rejected' very well. this time, though, she falls from the Plane with no intent to come back )
no subject
[But it's too late, and she's gone. He looks utterly distraught for a moment, something that lingers as he turns towards Oliver. He's got to go after her, and the look he gives his friend is meant to say that without so many words. He hopes Oliver understands. If not, he'll apologize later, because he, too, drops from the Plane a few seconds later.]
no subject
[Oliver is too slow to catch either of them. but he certainly does understand Jamie's departure, and he feels like an idiot for letting it get to this point in the first place. unfortunately, there's no way for him to go after them, so he just stares a little helplessly for a moment. he'll have to find them both later and see if there's any way he can help to smooth this out]
[and in the meantime, he'll just have to hope Jamie finds her and can start to work it out on his own...]
no subject
the door is closed, but Jamie likely knows where her 'room' is and if he knows her at all, he might be aware that she's hidden herself away in there
Victoria sighs )
I feel so stupid. ( she's taken to mumbling to herself. the stupidity stems from being upset when she didn't even really want to be married to him in the first place. well, that isn't completely true — she's thought about it time and time again. Jamie is among the only young boys that Victoria's ever known but more than that, he makes her feel things that she can't even bring herself to voice, so of course it hurt for him to say what he did.
lifting her hands, she pressed her palms to her face to rub gently as she withheld a sob. she'd been so outspoken on not wanting to be married to him, it surprised even her when she was so distraught
letting out a frustrated groan, she drops her hands to her lap and lowers her head to stare into it as well ) I am stupid.
no subject
So there's some time where she gets to be alone with her thoughts before there's a quiet knocking at her door. Well, relatively quiet, for Jamie.]
Victoria? Look, could I not talk to ye? Just for a few minutes?
[His voice is a bit muffled by the door, but she still might be able to pick up on the slight change in tone with his last word, something softer in it, almost a little pleading.]
Please?
no subject
Nh... ( lowering her head, she stared deeper into her lap until she head the pleading tone. sighing, she hoisted herself up from her seat and moved to touch the doorknob but hesitated on opening it up. what was there for her to say to him?
she felt ridiculous for feeling terrible in the first place. for all the protesting she had done, Victoria hadn't thought she would actually be upset at something so silly such as this.
rather than turn the knob, she rested her forehead to the door instead, closing her eyes )
...then talk. ( her voice was small, like his muffled through the door, but somehow loud enough for him to hear her )
no subject
Aye, well, I thought we were just playing around. If I'd known that ye were planning on actually getting a dress...
[Done something. Said something. He chews on his lower lip a moment, then goes to reach for the door handle before thinking better of it and letting his hand fall to his side.]
I shouldn't have let things get as far as they did, and if I've hurt ye, I'm sorry for it.
no subject
playing around — it made her smile briefly before fading away again. they weren't always entertaining themselves with frivolity but it had been known to occur quite often. perhaps they played around too much and should have thought to take things more seriously?
either way, things had escalated a little too quickly this time and when something should have been done to avoid the outcome, neither one of them had did anything to stop it from happening.
in part, she wanted to open up the door and pull him into a hug. it was clear that he felt bad however her own embarrassment and perhaps in part regret made her unwilling to do so. instead, her hand clutched the knob childishly to keep him from being able to open the door while the other stayed pressed against it )
Nonsense, Mister McCrimmon, ( did you hear that little crack in her voice as she spoke, Jamie? she'd like to pretend it didn't happen ) why would I be hurt? This marriage isn't properly real to begin with.
( a sigh left her lips ) I... wouldn't want to marry me either, if I were you.
no subject
Aye, maybe so, but that doesn't mean I should have teased ye the way I did about it.
[He can almost picture her through the door, looking a little small, and unhappy, but trying to put on a front anyway, trying to convince him she's fine so he'll go away and leave her alone, and he closes his eyes for a moment to try and chase the image away.
But he can't, not quite, and his voice when he speaks again is softer, that more gentle tone that seems to creep into his voice all too often when he wants to do something to help reassure her.]
Victoria, ye mustn't think like that. You're clever, and kind, and pretty, and...well. Any man with half a brain would be proud to call ye his wife.
no subject
Any man... apart from you... ( that's what he'd said after all. 'i can't marry ye. not for real' — the words kept replaying in her mind. her voice continues to betray her despite how hard she's been trying to hide her emotions. little cracks, little chokes keep working their way in between her words )
