002 :: Sheep happen to like water too~

[ Well this is a spot he hasn't explored yet! Kiran's amazed at seeing how massive the Bath House is, and he thinks that it's a good time as any to give it a whirl~

He thinks he's alone so first part of the program is to try the outdoor baths. After the requisite cleansing, he sinks into the hot water with a contented sigh. ]

I should've scouted this place earlier...


[ Afterwards, he will take to exploring the building, going ever upwards and checking the rooms -- will he find other people in there? Will he find something interesting? Musing to himself -- ]

This is pretty neat! You can even hold gatherings in here!

[ Kiran chuckles some more. ] They're not a bloodthirsty beasts! Cloths are tied to their wearer's heart and will so if I'm in danger it'll protect me; but if I'm fighting out of malice or personal gain, it'll leave me.

...oh. [he calms down--though he's still skeptical] Are you sure they don't just go evil if you get mad? They sound a little like AI. [thoughtfully] Well, except that those are evil and insane all by themselves.

What was the name of your armor?

[mentally, he's really, really hoping it wasn't a Greek letter...]

[ Shake of his head. ] They're not like that at all. They're old-- [ "beasts", he'd say; an affectionate term for him. ] artifacts more like, passed down from generation to generation. And they're definitely not evil, that I can assure you.

[ Brief raise of dotbrows at the question; he hasn't had to introduce his Cloth by itself, so it gives him a warm sensation to say: ] Aries, the Golden Ram.

Really? So, what's it want if it's not evil? [because he's used to most things that get in your head wanting to kill people and take over the universe, so this is a novel concept]

[...oh no, that's a Greek god, isn't it? no wait, isn't it Roman? and isn't that a god of war!? Doc's mind races for a minute, but since Kiran is so insistent that it's not evil, he decides to give him the benefit of the doubt and waits for Kiran's answer]

[ after more hum humming ] It wants what I want, basically. We have a common goal and that's to uphold justice and protect mankind under the guidance of Athena.

[ they were talking about gods, yes? >:3 ]

So you're, like, trying to save the universe? [Doc brightens] Cool! Man, the soldiers I know really aren't like that.

[and he's going to focus on that part because Aries and Athena working together just sounds...weird]

Along those lines, yeah. I guess soldiers in themselves come differently -- you're a medic I take it?

[ Doc may be confusing Aries and Ares :< Can't blame him though. ]

Wow, how'd you know? [he's excited that Kiran picked up on that; most people assume he's a doctor]

For one, you call yourself "Doc", and for two, you're in fighting gear. Unless that's common fashion where you're from...?

Yeah, uh, I only call myself that because that's what the guys call me. I'm actually Medical Officer DuFresne.

[armor is totally common fashion in Halo-verse! Doc looks shocked at that suggestion] Huh? "Fighting gear"? No, this is just armor. I'm a pacifist. [a pacifist who joined the army...]

Uh... yeah, you need armor when you're on the field so you don't get hurt.

[ Odd little smile -- ] You're funny, Doc~

Well, yeah, but I don't fight!

Really? [he looks rather happy about that statement, actually. you're a cool guy, Kiran] Hey, I don't think anybody's ever called me that before. Oh! Do you want to join my online circle of friends?

[ Kiran opens his mouth for a retort but-- you know what? He'll roll with it. For now. He doesn't have the heart to rain down on someone who sounds pretty happy after all--

I mean, sure we can be friends, but why-- what do you mean by "online"?

Wow, great! [under his helmet, Doc is grinning widely] We should do yoga sometime, too.

Uh...on the internet? [he's really good at explaining things]

[ Brow(dots)-raise. ]

I'm cool with yoga. But what's the internet?

[docinawall]

[Doc stares] You don't have the internet where you're from!? Oh man! What sort of world is it? It's a moon, isn't it?

The internet's like...a place on the computer where it can link up to other computers. And you can all talk to each other! And make friends, and watch videos... Like, there are lots of great cat videos! Oh, and like, how-to videos. They're a great way to increase my medical skills!

We have computers and I think they're connected to other computers... [ Like in the Graude Foundation where Saori plans for world domination does business. ] I just haven't seen any kind of video what you've described-- and it's not the moon it's Earth.

You can learn things from the internet? [ He looks a tad dubious because... is it through videos now that people get their medical know-how?? ]

Wait, you're from Earth? Really? [he laughs] Wow! Small universe. I mean, I've never actually been there, but I know people from there! Where are you from?

Yeah! Like, you can do research on websites. Well, except a lot of people edit them to lie, so you have to watch out for that. But there are great how-to videos! Yesterday, I was watching this yoga one... But then the guy twisted his ankle. [a beat] That probably wasn't the best one.

I think you'd be better off with a book, or learning from a yoga master. Is it the first time you try though?

[ Oh? Another one who's not from Earth? ] I was born in Tibet, and I mostly reside there, but I work in Athens, Greece. I travel to Tokyo sometimes. Does that mean you're from a different planet too?

[docinawall]

[Doc tilts his head consideringly] Yeah, maybe. But I'm a prisoner right now, and I'm trapped in a wall. So even if I knew where to find a yoga master? I don't think Wash would let me go. He's pretty mean. But sometimes when I complain a lot, I can get him to start up a video playlist for me! It really helps me keep my mind engaged.

What, yoga? [Doc scoffs] No way! I've been doing that forever. [not that you would know from his form]

What's Tibet like? Oh, I'm from a colony--Delta Commune. [at least, the mun assumes it's a colony] So I'm human, too. There sure are a lot of weird people around here, huh?

[ Shrug. ] If you say so. I was thinking you could try Tai Chi too, if you're into those things.

[ Kiran would love to get into the technicality of him being not ~really~ human so he just tucks that thought as his secret from Doc for now. He looks to the window briefly -- ] Tibet... mountains. Cold. It's home to the highest peaks on Earth. People dress colorfully and they're not that technologically advanced as the rest of the world, so it's like entering a different world entirely sometimes. But Tibetans are kind -- superstitious! But kind and warm.

What are your colonies like, Doc?

[docinawall]

Oh, I haven't tried that! I'll ask Wash to put that on next time.

That sounds nice! I mean, except the cold. But I bet it's got great views, and great people are even better. [under his helmet, he's smiling brightly]

People at Delta Commune are nice, too--except about team sports. [he chuckles] Then things get vicious! But otherwise? All careers are unionized, and conflict resolution training is required at school. Oh, and there are a lot of cats! Cats are great. But I haven't been there in a long time, so it might be different now. People might have...dogs. Or baby aliens.

[ Kiran can definitely hear the smile in Doc's voice -- something he has grown used to, speaking with Marin and the other female Saints who have to wear their masks.

He laughs a bit at the comment on sports~ ] It's the same where I'm from. People get really worked up for all kinds of sports.

[ There's a lot of information there, but there's one point Kiran would like to go back to -- ] Oh, hey-- you mentioned something about being a prisoner? Are you a P.O.W.?

[docinawall]

[Doc nods his eager agreement] Yeah, it's kinda crazy! You should see them around the Grifball championship.

Oh, uh...sort of? [he pauses thoughtfully] Are you a P.O.W. if you've been taken hostage by someone from a secret organization that's not actually on either side and got shut down, so he's probably supposed to be in jail? Because if you are, then yeah. If not...I guess I'm just a hostage?

[ 'Grifball' is it? Another bit to tuck aside~ In the meantime, Kiran mulls over the description -- ]

More like hostage, sounds like. Sorry 'bout that. That doesn't sound pleasant at all. Does that conflict resolution course come in handy in that kind of situation?
