[today there is a nine-year-old girl on the Astral Plane who, perhaps surprisingly, doesn't seem that bothered about her sudden presence in a multi-dimensional nexus. she has long brown hair and is wearing a plain T-shirt and jeans that are a little tattered and dirty, as though they've seen quite a bit of exploring. but her hair is neat and she doesn't look like she's been in anything particularly dirty today. being a curious child, though, she's made for the most interesting place she could spot--the black hole. currently, she has a hand in the gravity field around it and is attempting to see how far she can reach into that]

That feels weird! [she pushes her hand a little farther in, making a face at the sensation of the gravity fighting back] What is this thing?

[anyone listening might notice that the girl has a clear Mancunian accent. in fact, she may even look a bit familiar. but on her end, she's too busy poking at the field to notice anyone who might be approaching]

[ooc: Menzies is currently under her first experiment! For the time being, she has been regressed to when she was nine.]

[she giggles. yes, an actual giggle] Yeah, that sounds better. Do you know how big it is? [she taps her foot on the ground, wondering if there's a point at which you can fall off it]

[but she gives him a look at that. after all, she's older than you are, Conan--or so it seems to her. and she's embarrassed that you made her so worried] I can take care of myself.

What's your name?

Pretty big? Like, I've never seen the end of it -- and well, it'd have to be big, to be able to hide something like this. [Pats the black hole.]

[Token attempt to be a responsible adult over!] I'm Edogawa Conan -- call me Conan. You?

[grip_on_reality]

[she nods, interested] Are there lots of things like this at the Plane?

Patricia Menzies. Ah, Patricia. [she's still watching him curiously. why is his name backwards? that's weird]

[holmes_fanatic]

Well -- most of the things on the Plane are pretty ordinary really. There's a kitchen and a big house and -- oh, there's a forest and a beach! And in information kiosk!

It's nice to meet you, Patricia!

[grip_on_reality]

What, for visitors? That should be at the entrance! Why do they bring people where there's nothing? [she looks a little annoyed]

[she smiles at him] Nice to meet you. Let's go find the other places! [she rocks on her heels, excited]

[holmes_fanatic]

It's hard to guess where people will show up! But let's see -- if I came this way, then -- over here!

[Setting off confidently.] Ne -- what do you want to see first?

[grip_on_reality]

[she follows him, grinning excitedly] What's the forest like? Are there trees in space?

[holmes_fanatic]

There are trees in space! And -- well, a friend of mine has a friend who lives there. If we're lucky, we might be able to say hi.

[grip_on_reality]

I thought you said nobody lives 'ere! [she's looking all around them as they go, curious and eager]

[holmes_fanatic]

Well, he's kind of special! You'll see.

[Are those trees in the distance?]

[grip_on_reality]

[they are! and she sees them and breaks out in a run] Oh, I see it!

[holmes_fanatic]

H-hey, slow down! They're not going anywhere!


[... kids. Ha.]

[grip_on_reality]

[she keeps running, glancing back at him as she goes] Come on, Conan! It's a forest in space!

[holmes_fanatic]

[The things I do ... ]

Wait up! My legs aren't as long as yours!

[grip_on_reality]

[she slows down a little at that--and turns so she's running backwards] C'mon!

[holmes_fanatic]

I'm running as fast as I can!

[And jogging over, Conan's almost level with Menzies.]

[grip_on_reality]

[they're also about to reach the forest. she turns back around, slowing to a walk now as she peers between the trees] Wow...

'ow are there so many trees when there's no sun? [she knows enough to know that shouldn't happen at least]

[holmes_fanatic]

It's a mystery, isn't it? Kind of like how come there's electricity and plumbing in the kitchen but the pipes go nowhere.

[grip_on_reality]

Weird... [she walks over to one of the trees, putting a hand against it and rubbing the bark] It feels like a regular tree.

[glancing back at Conan, she asks:] Where's your friend live?

[holmes_fanatic]

All over the place ... he kind of roams around I think. We'll have to get his attention.

Let me call him? He knows my voice.

[And cupping his hands to his mouth.]

Eevee! Eevee!

[grip_on_reality]

[she puts a hand to her mouth, realising to her surprise:] He's an animal! [her deductive abilities are still there, after all, even if for the moment they're severely limited by her lack of age and experience]

[she turns away from the tree, watching eagerly for something to appear in response to Conan's call]

[holmes_fanatic]

[Conan grins at that, pleased that Menzies -- no. Patricia worked it out. Before he can reply however, there's a rustling in the bushes and a shy Eevee pokes his head out of some bushes.]

[grip_on_reality]

[her eyes widen, lighting up at the sight of the strange creature, and she gasps in delight, glancing at Conan for direction. not wanting to startle it, she asks him quietly:] Will it run? [because she's dying to get closer, but she doesn't want to spook it]

[holmes_fanatic]

Not now he's seen we're friends! C'mon Eevee -- say hi to Patricia!

[The Eevee flicks its ears, padding over delicately to nose Conan's hand before approaching Patricia.]

Eee-vee!

[grip_on_reality]

[she grins in excitement, holding out her hand so it can sniff at her, too] Hullo, Eevee.
