[as per his 'deal' with Ainley!Master, Gene has begun his investigation into where his ~~lover~~ ~~arch-nemesis~~ arch-lover acquired his new bling. being that Gene is Gene, he begins his search where he figures he'll find the most information -- Sam's desk. which includes fiddling around with his glasses and possibly downloading porn (by accident, of course!), before rifling through the papers inside his DI's desk. and what's this~? Hyde 2612? the Guv is, of course, none too happy to see 'Hyde' references in Sam's stuff, but he pockets it anyway and keeps going about looking like the snoop he is]

[cheerfully] That you did!

So why the hell aren't you listening?

Could be problems with authority. More likely just my usual drive to help. I think you could use some.

And I think I don't need any. Now stop being a pain in my arse and go away.

Any particular reason why?

[sighs] Because I want to help you.

It means there are things that you shouldn't be proud of and you keep doing it anyway, no regrets.

Like what?

Racist, classist, sexist, homophobic, binge-drinking, chain-smoking, violent, terrible driver, lacking empathy, completely irrational and illogical especially when it comes to half-baked ideas on protecting... [pauses] Do I need to go on?

No. [punches Ten in the face]

[THAT KIND OF HURT. He's covering his face now] You didn't have to hit me! Now you're just proving my points.

[that was kind of the point~] You say that like it's a bad thing.

[and now he's beaming at Gene] Exactly! You're quite proud of your short temper and violent ways, aren't you? Well, I'm proud of my nosing into people's business. So there you have it.

Yeah, well my 'short temper and violent ways' trump your nose in my business, so shove off.

[rubs his face for another moment before putting his hands into his pockets] I won't.

Too bad. [goes back to looking through Sam's desk and does his best to ignore you, Doctor]

[pouts but WON'T GIVE UP. hovers around him humming 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow']

[grits his teeth but KEEPS IGNORING and starts singing 'Jean Genie' under his breath]
