[as per his 'deal' with Ainley!Master, Gene has begun his investigation into where his ~~lover~~ ~~arch-nemesis~~ arch-lover acquired his new bling. being that Gene is Gene, he begins his search where he figures he'll find the most information -- Sam's desk. which includes fiddling around with his glasses and possibly downloading porn (by accident, of course!), before rifling through the papers inside his DI's desk. and what's this~? Hyde 2612? the Guv is, of course, none too happy to see 'Hyde' references in Sam's stuff, but he pockets it anyway and keeps going about looking like the snoop he is]

[puts his hand over Gene's to stop him, giving Gene a sharp glare, but reports regardless] There's 'something odd' about pretty much every one of them.

[matches the look, as he doesn't appreciate Sam trying to stop him from his ~~snooping~~ job] And how many of them do I give enough of a shit about to warrant investigating that sort of thing?

I don't know, Guv. You have a habit of making ne enemies when I'm not watching.

I'd hope it doesn't. Tell me, roughly, what you're looking for.

Well it don't, so stop worrying about it. [gives Sam a long look, weighing what he should and should not say] I've noticed the Frenchie acting weird. More than usual, anyway. I'm looking for any evidence that might suggest why. [gruffly] I'd rather know what the hell he's up to so I can stop it before it starts than wait for him to murder some other unsuspecting bastard.

Maybe his cheetahs rebelled. But if you know that, you've been talking to him again. [scoffs] And you lecture me about spending time with my murderers.

[frowns] What could possibly in my desk that relates to his moodswings?

Keeping tabs on him, Dorothy. There's a difference. [gives him a bland look] And you listen about as good as I do.

[snorts] Because you poke your nose in everything, figured you'd know something.

[obnoxiously, neurotically know-it-all] 'As well,' not 'as good.'

I, unlike you, haven't spoken to either Master in a while.

[equally obnoxious] I don't give a shit.

I'm amazed, Dorothy. About time you bloody well listened to me for once. Now keep it up and I'll make sure they don't bother you while you're ignoring them.

[DI Tyler: not entirely oblivious] How would you go about doing that, Guv?

[DCI Hunt: Goddamnit] Shooting on sight seems as good an idea as any.

['don't give me that bullshit' glare. Also, I must note that Sam's hand is still pinning Gene's to the desk] Guv.

['don't give me that "don't give me that bullshit glare" glare' also, that's borderline kinky] Don't you start that again. I'm keeping an eye on 'em. That's all you gotta worry about.

[Let y be the glare given. Let x be the glare recieved. y = 'don't give me x,' where x is also y-1. .... which is a messy and pseudomathematical way to say they're in a glaring contest]

Guv. Don't patronize me. If you're doing anything risky, I have a right to know.

[so he can kick Gene's ass for being a div]

You have a right to know whatever the hell I think you need to know, and until you're DCI, you can bloody well live with it. But if it'll shut you up, no, I'm not doing anything risky.

[Gene can and will lie to save his ass from Sam's wrath. which, reading that over, sounds a lot different than it was intended to sound]

[*fears the rape. And laughs*]

For starters, looking for information. I'll figure out how to use it later.

Christ, you're impossible! [slams his hand down on the table. Of course, considering where his hand just was, that might be Gene's hand that he just slammed his down on. If it was, it was an accident]

[because I'm mean, that's exactly what happened] Fuckin' hell, Tyler! Watch where you're throwing your bloody hissy fits!

[la belle dame sans merci! Or rather, the bitchy DI without pity] Don't go around dodging the topic. What are you really up to?

[shakes his hand and glares] I'm not dodging the question, damnit. I told you what I'm doing.

You're hiding something from me. [turns his back on Gene and goes back to making sure his desk is in order. Mainly because glaring at Gene is far less productive than indulging in anal retentiveness]

I'm not hiding anything. [pouts and watches Sam shuffle about his desk] And even if I was, it's in my right to do so.
