[The silence of space is shattered suddenly as a hard banging sound echoes across the plane. One single solid bang until-

Again.

Again.

Again again again again. It repeats for a handful of minutes before fading into quiet. As it does, on the plane appears a truly gigantic looking canine carrying a sign in his mouth. He places it down near the kiosks and disappears.

Yup. One of my favorite books. [He's a very "talk to people" type of investigator.]

I can imagine. Gets pretty random here.

I'm more a fan of the English-style mystery, but Hammet and Chandler's take on the detective novel really changed the genre. The film version was good too!

Has it always been like this?

Well, Doyle and Poe and Edogawa did too. [This kid is pretty cute. He gets a sort of almost smile.]

I'm not sure. I was only here for a while. Really about a couple of weeks my time, but months here.

But in very different ways! Ne -- you're a pretty big fan to even know Edogawa.

More fond of him than Maurice Leblanc or van Gulik. Well, van Gulik isn't too bad.

A lot's happened here? Or back home? [Hell, it could go either way with him.] Did anybody ever figure out what happened with the people that went missing was?

[They never did figure out what happened with Bee.]

Both -- we're still working on the missing people. We -- well, the first wave turned up, or their bodies did. All missing their left hand.

Yeah, and there was indication of saliva and curved sharp teeth from a very large mouth. But no sign of a struggle or anything. No starvation signs but their stomachs were empty.

[The kid reads Sherlock Holmes. Obviously this information isn't enough to disturb him.]

Forensics suggest that the victims were killed about an hour before they were found, but there were no signs they'd eaten and no signs that they'd been starved. Given how long some of them were missing -- it's possible they were held somewhere, which means it might still be possible to find the second wave of missing people.

More people went missing? [It hadn't happened for him since he left. He gives Conan a quizzical sort of look.]

Ah. So far we haven't found any trace of them ...

I gotta admit I'd sure as hell still like to know what happened to Bee.

You didn't find Bee? Or you did?

Yeah. As one of the victims the first time around. [And he's still not satisfied with how they've written it off as a tunnel worm accident of some sort.]

I don't recall meetin' a Grey. Who's that?

He minds the shop now.
