[ Sitting in the kitchen was this particular child with her hands wrapped around a mug of freshly brewed coffee. She wasn't paying much attention to anything going on there, but despite how absent of mind she appeared to be, she was, in fact, waiting.

Ai took a sip of the strong beverage and continued to stare at the counter. Clearly there was a lot on her mind and it had to do with a particular conversation she had recently had on the Plane. ]

Conan joined Haibara at the counter. It's not often that they're in this position -- he has the questions, Haibara has the answers, and he doesn't deal with waiting well.]

[ Her gaze lifted to look at him. Then, with a faint clink of ceramic meeting the counter, she set the coffee mug down. ]

When I asked about the story, he was inclined to re-telling it, so I told him to tell a different one. Asked for a true one to see if maybe I could get any information out of it.

[ She nodded. ] It was about a monster from before the universe began and how it came to be after it. Although it can be considered as him talking about fear in general.

Grey strongly implied the snake in my story wasn't literal either, and I wondered if that was fear -- the dopamine?

Yes, children. How stories of monsters were made to scare children, to make sure they would behave and listen to their parents. [ There was a slight pause. ] But... he said something strange.

[ Ai paused to take another sip of her coffee. With the cup still held in her hands she looked at the counter. ]

He went on about different names when I asked him more about this monster and he-- he came way too close to guessing my other name. The code-name that Organization gave me.

[normally, he would nip back to the TARDIS kitchen for a cuppa, but today, he feels like taking his chances on a multi-versal blend. the smell of the coffee is very difficult for his nose to miss and he's rather surprised she's drinking it, but who is he to tell her what to do and not do?]

[he nods, slipping his hands into his pockets] Small lad, Japanese, named after a brilliant mystery writer and coincidentally shares his surname with another--and has the intellect to boot. [which is actually what reminds him of Ai.]
