[Oliver is in the kitchen, putting the finishing touches of chocolate frosting on a round white cake. he also seems to have put quite a bit of frosting on his face, hands, and shirt--as well as some flour and other ingredients. cooking is not his strongest point. but he licks his finger and, after a second's consideration, seems satisfied] There we go! All done. Now for the note...

[he reaches into his pocket, withdrawing a piece of paper that is now also smeared with frosting. he frowns a little when he realises what he's done, absently wiping a chocolatey hand on his jeans. he then wipes at the chocolate on the note, but he quickly gives up that effort] Oh well. You can still read it, anyway... [he carefully folds the paper--spreading more chocolate as he does so--into a tent, which he sets up in front of the cake on the kitchen table. the note reads: "Free cake! Have some! -Oliver."

[once he has it sitting neatly, he takes a few steps back to survey his handiwork. he nods, apparently pleased] Okay, there's that. What else...? I should set out some plates, and napkins... Oh, forks! Maybe glasses, too. You've gotta have milk with cake... [he takes his frosting knife over to the sink and rinses it, and then he starts to rummage through cabinets. for the moment, he's focused on his task--but, unlike his recent desperate work in the library, this time he looks incredibly cheerful. he's even humming off-key snatches of music as he searches for utensils. on this occasion, he'll be glad to be interrupted. after all, he has cake to share!]

[ooc: Oliver, travelling with Ten, is sharing the canon update and has now experienced The Idiot's Latern--their version of it, at least. Also, the cake is not fantastic but it's decent cake, at least! Oliver hopes that everyone will enjoy it.]

[Free cake! An interesting proposition. Conan considers it carefully, but also looks Oliver over thoughtfully.

... he has definitely been baking, there is no doubt about that. Even so, it might be possible that something has been added to the cake, as it was to the Halloween candies.]

I was thinking more of personality altering side-effects. It hasn't been out of your sight, right?

[he stares; he definitely didn't think of that] No, 'course it hasn't! [he frowns, looking worriedly at his cake] Other people are gonna think that, too, aren't they? Maybe I should've made something else... [he can't keep the disappointment out of his tone. he was hoping to celebrate--not scare people]

Yeah! [at the sound of her voice, Oliver turns to beam at her] Have some! Here, let me get you a plate... [he goes back to rummaging in the cabinet. he wishes things would stay put in this kitchen]

Gwen! [Oliver turns to her, beaming happily] We just saved the world! Well, the country at least, and probably the world. Want some cake?

We'd better test it right away then. Cut me a small slice?

[Oliver nods, retrieving a few plates and fishing a knife and some forks out of a drawer. he cuts himself a small slice first, digging into it immediately. as he chews, he considers] Seems all right to me. [not as good at Chloe's, but he thinks he did pretty well on the whole. he cuts Conan a slice now, offering it to him on one of the other plates] Here.

[As Oliver doesn't seem to be showing any marked signs of personality upheaval, Conan's going to start on his slice.]

[he shakes his head vigorously] No way.

[he's not sure what that meant, but he's guessing something along the lines of "cheers."] Ah, yeah. Enjoy!

[after eating that candy in the same kitchen (albeit a much cleaner one), he can't help feeling...hesistant about this cake even if it does have a note in front of it]

[She happily goes to stand at the counter, waiting patiently for Oliver to find said plate.]

Thank you so much! Is it a special occasion? Are we celebrating?

Yeah? Good! [he smiles broadly]

Nah. [Oliver shakes his head] We just saved the country! So I thought we should celebrate.

[it's more than that, though. and if Conan is observant, he'll see it in Oliver's expression. for someone who saves the world regularly, this sort of intense relief is beyond his usual experiences]

[Oliver nods, finally finding some plates and pulling them down] Yeah! The Doctor and I saved the country! Well. Mostly the Doctor did. I... [he pauses. but, considering the close friend that Marta is, he doesn't really mind telling her] I'm still alive. So I'm celebrating!

[he brings the plates over, then fetches a knife and some forks] How big of a piece do you want?

[Oliver nods] Yeah, there was this alien trying to use tellies to, uh, suck out people's brains. Basically. [all the electrical energy in them, at least] But it's all over now!

Rory! [but his excitement shifts into a pouting expression. he's a little offended by that] 'Course it's safe! I can bake, you know.

Oh! You saw that, huh? Yeah, that's the one. He trapped the Wire in it, and we all went back to normal! ...I mean, everyone. [he quickly takes another bite of cake]

[Oliver makes a face. he totally explained this already] Like I said, an alien was using tellies--well, if you want the details, she was sucking the electrical energy out of people. And she was about to get just about everyone all over the country--the coronation was coming on! Ah, in 1953. Did I mention we time travel? Anyway, the Doctor and this kid we met, Tommy, got her sucked into that tape instead. So everybody was saved! And I figured I should bake a cake.
