twenty-first pact ❖ {mitternacht}

[The ever-present stars refuse to shine through the inky dark substance that seeps out of every shadow and every crevice of the Plane. It pools and gathers around a single silhouette. Tendrils of dark energy seem to coat the humanoid shape, or perhaps they're part of it; they rise from the monster like wisps of steam. Those who know him might recognize Emil, though it seems more like he's a monster bathed in shadow. His glowing red eyes are, perhaps, the most notable thing about him. Aside from that, there's the butcher sword, though it's absolutely dripping with blood now. He shuffles aimlessly around the Plane.

Also, Emil isn't alone. Various monsters of all shapes and sizes wander off into the forest, some bearing the scales and natural armor of dragons, and others with the decrepit flesh of zombies. And then there are stragglers who happen to be very fluffy.

You are free to run into the monsters and kill them-- though they're actually a bit unsure about attacking people, and definitely shy-- or perhaps track down the freaky-looking monstrosity that is now Emilthlu.]

Humans... half-elves... who cares? I'll get rid of them. All of them. And then no one can ever ruin my world again.

[ooc: Emil will definitely be trying to kill people in this post if they're human or half-elf! If you don't want your character to die, let me know. You are also free to try to kill him, of course. My AIM is heroic BSOD if you want to talk about things! ♥]

Why? Because you don't care for them? Awfully hypocritical, don't you think? I mean, people have killed for less, but really. You've got a brain and deep down, you know how ridiculous that all sounds! You can stop this before anyone gets hurt!

[he isn't fazed by this display] Everything can be stopped, even you. You have that choice. You've got all the choices in the world! But I never figured you'd choose to be an idiot. Honestly, do you really believe that you were destined to become this? Just because others feared you would? Maybe I was wrong about you possessing a brain.

See, the thing about destinies...it's all a bunch of rubbish. Just some daft people standing around saying something will happen, and persuading people into believing it, and so on and so forth. And those who believe in that end up perpetuating that believe so they make it happen themselves. It's not some higher entity playing you lot like marionettes!

And really, if you believe you don't need anyone, fine. But what about those people who need you? Ever think about them? I bet you haven't done. You can have all the power in the universe, but it means nothing in the end.

[his expression turns severe. he's made far, far too many sacrifices in all his years, and he usually bottles all that up and shoves it into a corner of his mind. much easier that way.]

You're wrong. You do everything you can in your power to change how things are, to help the people who need the help, the protecting--and to help those who are doing the harming! You help them and get them to stop. You exhaust every last option you have before you even think of making those sacrifices. You can't just deem yourself a protector of only certain living beings. It just doesn't work that way!
