twenty-first pact ❖ {mitternacht}

[The ever-present stars refuse to shine through the inky dark substance that seeps out of every shadow and every crevice of the Plane. It pools and gathers around a single silhouette. Tendrils of dark energy seem to coat the humanoid shape, or perhaps they're part of it; they rise from the monster like wisps of steam. Those who know him might recognize Emil, though it seems more like he's a monster bathed in shadow. His glowing red eyes are, perhaps, the most notable thing about him. Aside from that, there's the butcher sword, though it's absolutely dripping with blood now. He shuffles aimlessly around the Plane.

Also, Emil isn't alone. Various monsters of all shapes and sizes wander off into the forest, some bearing the scales and natural armor of dragons, and others with the decrepit flesh of zombies. And then there are stragglers who happen to be very fluffy.

You are free to run into the monsters and kill them-- though they're actually a bit unsure about attacking people, and definitely shy-- or perhaps track down the freaky-looking monstrosity that is now Emilthlu.]

Humans... half-elves... who cares? I'll get rid of them. All of them. And then no one can ever ruin my world again.

[ooc: Emil will definitely be trying to kill people in this post if they're human or half-elf! If you don't want your character to die, let me know. You are also free to try to kill him, of course. My AIM is heroic BSOD if you want to talk about things! ♥]

[Oh. Shit.

Riku mentally curses himself for underestimating this thing while he tries to shield himself with his own darkness. However, nothing's going to stop
that completely... He can still feel the energy pierce through him, and as if that wasn't enough, he can feel the wounds from the flying rocks split open even more. He can't stifle his cry of pain as he falls to his hands and knees on the Plane floor.]

No. ... No!

[He stays down this time, glaring up at shadowy Emil, keeping a tight grip on his sword and waiting for the next move before he tries something else. He's not going to make this mistake again.]

[Don't have to tell him twice.

Riku staggers all the way up, but gets back on his feet and takes a few slow, intense steps forward. He raises his sword, shifting into an offensive position. His gaze is fixed on Emil, and he jerks his head to one side - a challenge. Come and get it.

You mean you'll keep trying. What, any other tricks up your sleeve?

[Even if Riku could tell the thing's blood from the dark, he wouldn't realize what he was seeing. He's never even seen it before. He has no idea what -- no, who -- exactly it is that he's fighting.

His own wounds are slowing him down significantly. He can't dodge everything - hell, he can barely dodge most of it. But he recognizes hastiness when he sees it and intends to take full advantage. He ignores the pain from Emil's blows, the sheer amount of blood coating his arms, matting his hair... Somewhere in this fury, there has to be an opening --

There.

He ducks under Emil's blade, steps forward. And when he stands, he strikes, driving his sword forward with the last of his own strength.

[Marta? What's--

He doesn't have time to wonder. Emil's claws sink into his skin, viciously and effortlessly ripping bright red, gaping wounds into his chest. His eyes go wide. He can't even make a sound, the pain is far too great. He coughs, the metallic taste of his own blood filling his mouth. Yeah, he can tell this is it for him, but at least he brought down... the...

... kid.

Riku studies Emil for a very long moment, as well as he can with his vision quickly leaving him. He slumps to the floor, eyes closing. His last thought is only,
What have I done? And then, nothing.]
