twenty-first pact ❖ {mitternacht}

[The ever-present stars refuse to shine through the inky dark substance that seeps out of every shadow and every crevice of the Plane. It pools and gathers around a single silhouette. Tendrils of dark energy seem to coat the humanoid shape, or perhaps they're part of it; they rise from the monster like wisps of steam. Those who know him might recognize Emil, though it seems more like he's a monster bathed in shadow. His glowing red eyes are, perhaps, the most notable thing about him. Aside from that, there's the butcher sword, though it's absolutely dripping with blood now. He shuffles aimlessly around the Plane.

Also, Emil isn't alone. Various monsters of all shapes and sizes wander off into the forest, some bearing the scales and natural armor of dragons, and others with the decrepit flesh of zombies. And then there are stragglers who happen to be very fluffy.

You are free to run into the monsters and kill them-- though they're actually a bit unsure about attacking people, and definitely shy-- or perhaps track down the freaky-looking monstrosity that is now Emilthlu.]

Humans... half-elves... who cares? I'll get rid of them. All of them. And then no one can ever ruin my world again.

[ooc: Emil will definitely be trying to kill people in this post if they're human or half-elf! If you don't want your character to die, let me know. You are also free to try to kill him, of course. My AIM is heroic BSOD if you want to talk about things! ♥]

[Richter probably should have known from experience that, no matter what form Ratatosk chose to take (or was forced to take) his fighting style would be unchanged. The Summon Spirit was faster than the half-elf ever was though, and while the redhead was able to dodge the fist coming at him it was a very close call. A second later and Richter would have probably been in for a world of hurt.

He hasn't had to fight for a few weeks now, not since their last encounter in the Ginunngagap, and he never expected coming across a situation where he'd need to cover the core on his forehead any more than it already was. Between the act of dodging, the attack and the fact that Richter just wasn't paying any attention to keeping it hidden, the core on his forehead is visible for just a second.

Unaware of the potential complications on the horizon though, Richter just focused on getting out of range before counterattacking]

[the position that the counterattack left him in meant that he couldn't fully dodge or block the kick coming at him. All Richter could do was try and minimize the damage; a broken knee was the last thing he needed while fighting Ratatosk. There's just enough room for him to shift slightly, but the kick still winds up scraping along the side of his leg, forcing the half-elf to his knee with a cry of pain.

There wouldn't be enough time to cast a spell, not with Ratatosk like this. The best he could do was prepare to block and hope that the limp he'll be sporting wouldn't hinder his mobility too much]

[being down on his knee was definitely not a position Richter wanted to be in when it came to fighting Ratatosk. Especially when he's in a rage like this. The best he could do now was block and defend against each of Ratatosk's blows while looking for a way to get back to his feet. Spell casting was definitely out of the question: he needed time and concentration, both of which were impossible to get right now.

So he waits for an opportunity to present itself before he swings at the monster in front of him again. Richter wouldn't let himself be killed here. Not yet and definitely not at Ratatosk's hands]

[a couple of months earlier, Richter would have taken that opening. Killed Ratatosk without a moments hesitation because that was what he needed to do in order to bring Aster back.... But none of that mattered now. Richter didn't have enough information about how the finer things worked on the Plane especially in regards to how death worked. How it really worked and he didn't want to put their world at risk now]

'Tch.

[the half-elf dropped off the Plane, intent on grilling the Centurions for information and recovering from the cuts and scrapes he's gotten before coming back. UNTIL NEXT TIME, RATATOSK!]
