[It's been a bit since we've seen Nathan on the plane, hasn't it? Well, here's our very own Dethklok front man, drinking on his couch. Just he doesn't seem to be in that great of a mood. He doesn't seem pissed off, more... reserved and almost like an upset little boy.]

Fucking Charles.

[He mutters and drinks his beer, staring forward.]

Not our fault.

[He finishes his booze, and throws the bottle at the floor, where it smashes.]

I guess if you've been on the Plane long enough to write a pamphlet, you must have worked out a lot about it and the other worlds here.

I wrote that when I first got here, actually. Though, yeah, I totally know a ton of shit about this place. And not because I've been here long enough. I just- I am good at getting information... from people. Yeah.

Not much? Irving gets the Dethklok Minute, but that's about it...

Is that a publication?

Ne -- is Irving the Irving mentioned in the other pamphlet? 'Irving, if giving me a project about a frankly improbable multiversal nexus is your idea of stress-relief' -- that Irving?

It's a tv show.

[Nathan nods as he goes along.]

Yeah. That's Irving. He's like, okay, he's like my best friend up here. He's like Charles but he drinks with me more and has a bit more fun than Charles does. ...Okay, a lot more fun.

Charles being your manager?

Ne, does Charles know you'd like to have fun with him?

[And his mood slips that much more to sullen and surly.]

Of course he knows! He just doesn't care. We planned for a trip for a really really really long time, and he blows us off.

Is that why you're running away on a boat? 'cause it's kind of like a trip?

Ugh, no. Like, okay, we started out on foot, then we hopped a train, then we hiked again, then... we snuck on the boat.

Right.

I hope you work things out quickly! That boat doesn't sound so much fun.

Yeah.

[A beat.]

So, uh. You're new. How's- how is that, uh, going for you?

It's all right. There's a lot of stuff to work out, of course, but between the pamphlets and the explanations I've been given, I think I got the main idea.

I, uh, never really worked out a lot of stuff. More like 'okay, this shit is space, it has oxygen, a floor, and there's some fucking junk about other universes'.

But hey, you know, I'm feeling like answering questions about shit, so, uh. If there's anything you don't already know? I'll take a shot at an- answering it.

I guess the two things I most want to know are about the people who are part of the machine -- the 'hosts' I mean. Have you ever met any of them?

And the second thing is the experiments.

I don't know anything about experiments, but yeah, I know the people who work here. Some more than others, they're pretty cool.

Ha, really? What are they like?

Well, who do you wanna know about? There was Lapis and Lazuli, there's Meredith, was Roe, there's that dog guy, uhhhhhh, there's that new guy, Grey, that Raymond dude...

All of them! So far, you're the first person I've met who doesn't mind telling me about them.

Why don't we start with your favourite?

[He scuffs his boot on spacefloor.]

Roe. She was- I liked her best, I guess. She was pretty fucking cool. Man, she was a fucking ghost, that's fucking brutal. Kind of like... detached I guess? A bit dispassionate, kind of angry, but hey, fuck, can't blame her, you know? She's dead. I'd be totally pissed if I was dead too.

Me too. Though -- I heard death kind of happens a lot here?

Yeah. I know some guys who bleed black. Which, by the way? Totally fucking awesome.

I guess so. Though I got to wonder what happens if they need a transfusion ...

Ne, you said Roe's not here any more?

[He nods.]

Like, she and Lapis and Lazuli and I guess whoever else was involved with them? They got like, their space privileges or something revoked. They can't access the machine anymore.

[Nathan sighs and brushes the stray piece of his hair out of his eyes. It slips back in place though.]

Meredith delivered a letter for me, though. Like, a goodbye letter, you know? Roe and I were friends, so... I felt it would be a dick move to not say goodbye somehow.

Ha ... That was nice of Sault-san. The impression I got of here wasn't so -- friendly?
