[ It's been awhile since Tsuna's been in the machine. Where as last time he was freaking out, this time he's sitting quietly on a swing set he found randomly sitting around. He's swingingly slowly back and forth, his blond haired doll Giotto balanced carefully on his lap. He looks like he's down about something. ]

This is ridiculous... I can't do it. 

[ He lets out a big sigh, and stops swinging to look at Giotto. Taking a moment he picks up the doll and holds it out I front of him, and after that moment he makes a face and sets the doll on the ground leaning against one of the poles before he starts to swing a little higher, and faster. ]

No, no excuses. There's a little rule I like to live by, and I think you'd get a lot of benefit out of it, too. It's simple: if someone's trying to kill you, you don't stay living with them.

[ Tsuna's just going to stare up at you for a moment, before looking down, and over at his doll sitting on the ground. ] I-I can't... He, he'll just follow me. He'll hurt my family, and friends. Something has to be done about him, but...

[ He doesn't want to have to do it. ]

[Menzies sighs, scowling. she does at least have the presence of mind to hold back a curse in front of the kid. but she should have expected that--of course it wouldn't be so easy. but that doesn't make her feel any better about a kid stuck in servitude]

W-Well there's Dino-san but, he's already doing what he can... Other then him it's just Giotto and I. [ He's not going to mention that there's something a little off about the Dino that he's meet here though. ]

[she rubs her temple briefly, wondering why she's working so hard to get herself into the middle of a mess on a world she can't even reach. still, she wouldn't be much of a copper if she just left the kid stuck with somebody trying to get him killed]

[she hasn't met Dino yet, so she has no reason to think there might be anything odd about him, and she also assumes Giotto is another human] Then what's Dino doing so far? Or Giotto?

Dino-san is helping train Hibari with Alaude. Giotto... [ Tsuna reaches down to pick up the doll setting it on his lap and then gives a bit of a lopsided smile when he looks back at Menzies. ] Giotto is doing his best to protect me when he's human. He can only do so much though since I'm the weak one between the two of us...

[okay, that's new. Menzies regards him curiously--and maybe a bit skeptically--for a moment] Your doll turns into a human?

[if he'd said Giotto turned into an alien, maybe that would have been a little more believable, but a human?]

[ Tsuna nods his head yes. ] Mmhm, he does. He's really strong, and cool, and everything I'm not.

I-I'd show you but the power doesn't work here...

[wow, this kid sounds like he needs a course in self-esteem. God, she's so bad at this] You know that sort of thing isn't everything, don't you? There's a lot of people your age who can't turn into dolls. Or fight.

All right, so basically, this Dino's trying to help you out, and your doll protects you when he's human. Is that about right?

[ Well he's not called Dame-Tsuna for nothing you know. ] I know, It's just... [ now he's shaking his head ] Never mind.

Mmhm, and there's someone out to kill me and my friends to take over the world.

Yeah, sure... [she leaves it at that, really wondering what she's trying to get herself into here--and inwardly cursing the fact that she's awful with kids]

[she sighs] Yeah, I got that part. So, I know about everybody else. What are you doing to protect yourself?

A-Ah... Well Reborn is my tutor, so he's been teaching me to fight, and so has Giotto. I-I'm a terrible fighter though. I don't want to hurt other people.

[she snorts, struck by the irony that asking the kid how he's protecting himself means talking about the help he's getting from the person who wants him dead] And he's the one trying to kill you?

A-Ah, no! I-I mean I don't think so. R-Reborn's methods always seem crazy, and are usually life threatening, but that's just how he is.

Reborn says that the person's name is Byakuran... I don't even know this Byakuran guy either! He doesn't really have any reason to try to kill me! Granted I didn't know the Varia, and they wanted to kill me too, but that's not the point.

...oh. [well, she'd certainly bungled this one. here she's spent all that time thinking he meant his tutor was trying to get him killed. apparently his tutor just wants kids to handle dangerous criminals for him. this "Reborn" doesn't sound much more inspiring this way, but at least the kid has one more person on his side--relatively]

And your tutor isn't handling this Byakuran himself because...?

[ Here Tsuna gives a world weary sigh, and seems to deflate. ] Reborn has certain things he can and can't do. I think it has to do with the group he's in... I mean, he's crazy strong, but sometimes he just has to sit back and watch.

I don't really understand why... You don't really question Reborn about his methods... [ That might have been a bit of grim amusement there ]

[Menzies is not at all amused. she is skeptical and annoyed] Even when those methods might get you killed.

[ Tsuna just shrugs. He won't admit it out loud, but he trusts Reborn with his life, and his friends' lives. ] I've lived through his methods so far...

Reborn hasn't been wrong yet, I just don't want to do it. I hate fighting, and hurting people, and making others fight for me, or because of me. [ He's going to start rocking back and forth gently again, this time scowling. ] Of course it'll happen anyways, it always does.

[Menzies closes her eyes briefly, sighing inwardly. she moves to the swing next to Tsuna, although she stays standing, holding onto the chain] So how'd you get in the middle of all this fighting?

E-Eh? Well... I suppose you could say it's a family thing. See my ancestor was really strong, and he kinda with out meaning to made this organization for people with the power to bring dolls to life go from scattered and not communicating, to organized and stuff like that.

Well the people in that organization found out that I'm related to him, and they all wanna see if I'm really as strong as he was. [ Tsuna frowns slightly at the top of Giotto's head. ] I think there might be something else though, another reason that I don't know about...

[that description has "gang" written all over it. she wouldn't have expected it from a dollmaker, but she supposes it makes sense considering they're fighting dollmakers. really, she doesn't want to know how that came about. but there is one more thing she'd like to know about the situation]
