[finding herself in the middle of a field of stars, Menzies' first instinct is to spend a moment looking around to get an idea of her situation. her eyes roam over the star patterns reaching as far as she can see. she taps a foot on the ground, frowning at the feel of it]

Well. That has to be the smoothest trip to another planet I've ever had. Not that I make a habit of it, but I do have some experience. Now... [she straightens, her demeanor growing more serious--ready for anything--though her tone remains conversational] Are you going to show yourself? Because whoever you are, I think I oughta recommend you to some people. I bet you could have yourself an interdimensional taxi service if you wanted.

Or do you just make a habit of kidnapping police officers? Because in case you don't know, some planets frown on that sort of behaviour.

[takes a step forward, watching for anyone around her] Well? What have you got to say for yourself?

It's not so much another planet than another plane of reality altogether. If you want to go home, you only need to think about it.

[grip_on_reality]

[watches the strange man--whom she'd assumed was a woman until she heard the voice, but you never know, really--as he approaches her. she crosses her arms over her chest, thinking he means that he's the one responsible for her appearance here] Yeah? So why bring me here if I can go any time I want?

That's something I've been wondering for the last three years.

[grip_on_reality]

[she raises an eyebrow at that] So you're not the one who did it, then. [and if that's true and he's been here that long, it stands to reason...] ...you haven't thought about home in three years?

[lamb_of_gold]

I come and go all the time. But it has been three years since I found myself here initially. Believe me, I was not the one who brought you.

[grip_on_reality]

So who did that, then?

[lamb_of_gold]

At one point, I'd have had an answer for you, but the twins have been missing for some time now. I don't know who's responsive for bringing more people here.

[grip_on_reality]

Lovely. [she sighs. leave it to her to get sucked into the middle of something strange like this] So basically, you don't know who's bringing people here, and you don't know what we're here for. So why keep coming back if you can leave whenever you want?

[lamb_of_gold]

We're here for some sort of experiment, though I don't know what, exactly, is being tested.

I suppose I've grown attached to the people here. [Which he realizes may or may not be a good thing]

[collector]

Out of curiosity, which planets don't? Frown on that sort of behaviour, that is.

[grip_on_reality]

[raises an eyebrow at the man, assuming he must be the one who's brought her here] I wouldn't know. Maybe you'd like to enlighten me?

[collector]

Well, I doubt they made a practice of it, but I suspect the Murdokians didn't take too much issue with it. I can't say I ever stayed around long enough to find out.

[grip_on_reality]

[crosses her arms over her chest] And what about you personally? Is this the sort of thing you enjoy doing?

[collector]

Not particularly, no. Why? I hope I don't have that sort of look to me.

[grip_on_reality]

[snorts] I show up in the middle of somebody's astronomy textbook with only you to greet me, and you think you don't have that look about you? [shakes her head] Either you're not much of a kidnapper, you must think you've got a really good reason for bringing me here, or... [she trails off, letting him fill in that blank]

[collector]

[a momentary pause, and he fills in,] Or I'm not responsible for your sudden appearance. A possibility not off the table.

[grip_on_reality]

You know, it's on the table, but that possibility's got a catch. For it to be true, there has to be another explanation. [watches him expectantly, getting the definite impression that, even if he's not responsible, he knows at least something about what's happening] Any ideas?

[bit_impossible]

[the Doctor's walking around in what appears to be billowy and poofy light trousers, as well as a vest akin to his normal brown and blue pinstriped suit. he's walking real casual-like, munching on an apple he plucked from the kitchen when he spots the new confused person. granted, he only sees the back of her head.

so! he finishes his bite, tucking the apple away, and heads on over to her. once he's near, though, instead of greeting her, he continues walking until he bumps into her. as he does so, his hand slips into her pocket and out comes her wallet.]

Oi! Look where you're--[he finishes slipping that wallet into a pocket on his own person when catches sight of her face. his eyes widen in an instant.] Blimey, it's you...!

[grip_on_reality]

[not exactly the greeting she was expecting. Menzies was just about to snap at him to watch where he's going, but then he stares at her like he's surprised to see her, and she crosses her arms over her chest]

Yeah, the police officer you just kidnapped. I'm glad to see you've got all this organised so well.

[bit_impossible]

[looks suddenly taken aback] Kidnapped?! I didn't kidnap anyone. I'm not in the business of kidnapping, you know! [takes a step back anyway, knowing he just pickpocketed a police officer]

[grip_on_reality]

[now that is a guilty look if she's ever seen one] Uh-huh. How'd I get here, then? Freak teleportation accident, I take it?

[bit_impossible]

No, freak teleportation accidents usually result in the switching of limbs or accidental removal of said limb or limbs--and those can usually be found back at your point of origin. And that's just for starters! You should have seen the early human pioneers of the teleportation technology. [pulls a face] Not exactly something to discuss so close to lunchtime, or during lunchtime, for that matter!

Why do you think you've been kidnapped, anyway? Didn't you voluntarily come in through the shop?

[grip_on_reality]

Yeah, okay, I get the picture.

[skeptically] What, the shop is some sort of teleporter then? You'd think that sort of thing would have a label! What's to stop just anybody from wandering into it?

[then again, no one else seemed to notice the shop besides her. this is looking more fishy by the minute]

[bit_impossible]

[he sighs] I'm disappointed with you, Patricia! Not everything has to have a teleport or be the cause of causing someone to go from one place to another. And don't even get me started on labels.

[grip_on_reality]

[she tenses at that, eyeing him suspiciously] I didn't give you my name.
