[A young alien boy appears on the Plane. He initially seems a bit taken aback, obviously not expecting to be here.]
What...?
[He turns around, inspecting where he is.]
Have I ended up in the veil? Wait. No... this can't be the veil. [Pause.] Hm.
[He walks a few feet, just getting a bearing of his surroundings.]
Look. I do not have time for this. I demand an explanation as to where I am. And... why exactly I'm here. I have a very serious and important game to be playing. One of dire consequences, and I would like to get back to it. Sometime soon. Preferably in the next few minutes.

This is called the Astral Plane. It is a meeting point between assorted alternate universes and histories. Anybody from any world or time may access the Plane if brought into its experiment by what are known as the Hosts. The Machine is the focal point of this experiment, though there has been a distressing lack of clarity on what, precisely, the Machine is, and the nature of the experiment is not clear either, though, given some of the trials, it is occasionally suspected to be mere sadism.
