[In pops Marta, mid-walk. It's a slow walk, and her gaze is on the ground. She's sad again, and it shows in the way she's holding herself, how she's fussing with the ends of her hair with both hands, in her heavy sigh.
'The most important thing you can do right now is run...' well, may as well run to the Plane and get some thinking done, right? And what is there to think about? Well, nothing pretty. Altamira under attack, Regal and Sheena in danger, the Vanguard's twisted plans... And somehow, it all comes back to one central idea for her... ]
Is this my fault, for being so naive? ... What should I do...?
[She finds a quiet spot in the forest, beneath one of the trees near the edge. She sits on the ground, knees drawn up to her chest, and quietly lets her thoughts spin on themselves. Maybe she'll just sleep here, while she has the chance...]
((OoC: Canon bump!! Marta and Emil are now in Chapter 7! /confetti! For those keeping score at home: Magnar was defeated and the Vanguard's plans have been revealed - the group is now traveling to Mizuho.))

Emil...
[She doesn't know what to say right now. Too many possibilities are running through her mind.]

She's not alone. They're running scared, but at least she's not alone.]
Everything will be okay.
[Who is he reassuring anymore?]
no subject
Emil... Thank you. I'm sorry.
no subject
What? This isn't your fault. If anything, I'm the one who should be apologizing. [He glances away.] If I was strong enough to protect you, we wouldn't be running away right now.

Though that scarf's a little... er.]No, I mean... you wouldn't have to protect me in the first place if I could have done something, to stop this before it got so bad...

Anyway, Emil shakes his head fiercely as she tries to reason that it's her fault. He knows it's not and protests with every degree of his severe frown.]
It's not your fault. He's your father. Of course you were scared. I don't think I could've gone against my own father, either. [He's a little hesitant of this only because 1. he's not sure if his father is the one he remembers and 2. he doesn't remember his father that well anyway, but those are lesser problems for now, and he doesn't need to burden Marta with them.
He thinks of his aunt and uncle, how they'd treated him so terribly and yet... he misses them.]
I guess... sometimes it takes courage to run away, too.
no subject
... Ahem. She listens, frowning, but honestly considering... and scoots a little closer.]
I guess it does. I just wish there was something more that I could do. Maybe if I kept talking to Daddy, maybe...
[But even her tone gives away that she doesn't think talking to him would help anymore. Still, she can wish.]

Emil doesn't seem to notice the personal space invasion. He invited it, anyway.]
You still want to talk to him?
[He sounds more surprised than doubtful. Last time didn't turn out so well... Yet, following that question is a little squeeze of their hands in the grass. He's being so strong for her right now; it's nothing short of amazing, and he's not even aware of it.]
If that's what you want, then let's keep trying.
no subject
It's alright, Emil. He may not listen anyway, so we should find another way. Somehow...
Thank you. [She rests her head on his shoulder.] For comforting me like this, trying to cheer me up...

[... o-oh. Her head is suddenly on his shoulder. He blushes, but he doesn't stiffen up or move away. He just gives her an awkward smile, the same as always.]
Sorry I'm not that good at it.
