Jade!

[Obviously this is Jade's fault. ...Maybe not fault; this is nicer than his cell, if not utterly confusing.]

I know you're here! Come out from... ...space!

[This is really confusing. The identical floor and surrounding environment is disorienting, but there are buildings, and... a chair? It's attractive, but not so much that he doesn't kick it over in his confusion before moving on to the buildings. This can't be natural... though, considering the way inside was through a mysterious door in his cell wall, what chance was there of it being otherwise?

Maybe alerting Jade is a bad idea. He can't lock him back up if he doesn't know where he is. So, exploring. Quietly.

As quietly as a Dist can manage.]

Oh... you're here too? Why don't you know where he is?

[He's rather ambivalent about Guy being in the place at all, other than being... a bit confused as to how he's there in the first place.]

Where are we?

It's not like I keep track of his movements.

[And Guy for his part has no personal grudge against Dist. The man was an obstacle for a while, but that's in the past. That he has access to the freedom this place provides might be a little worrying, but that's in the future.]

It's kind of a long story. [Which he's going to have to explain, isn't he?]

Well, I've gotten good at waiting but that doesn't mean I want to do any more of it. Get on with it; what's going on here?

[Not again... He won't even protest by now. Jade has him well trained.]

It's called the Astral Plane, and a lot of worlds... Connect to it by a Machine. Timelines too, I guess. I'm not really sure how it's possible, theoretically it shouldn't be. [Getting off track.]

Anyway. Time doesn't move back home when we're here, when you go back you'll be in the same instant you were when you got here.

[He pauses there. Dist can find out more of the basics at the kiosk, no stopping that, so there's no reason not to share. But he should probably ask when Dist is from.]

[Not that it's going to change anything either way, now that Dist is here.]

There's a brochure with more information, like the people who may or may not be in charge. Also something about merging worlds which... Never mind. Not everyone here will be from Auldrant, and not everyone from Auldrant will be from the same time.

Speaking of which, what's the last thing you remember?

Sitting in jail doing a whole lot of nothing.

[The blandness in his voice is palpable. Jail really is boring.]

[So around their timeline. Guy has to wonder if it's something specific to Malkuth or... Theories later though.]

[Guy takes it calmly. He is used to brats. Even ones older than him.]

That aside, you should be careful.

Oh? Why? Be careful of Jade pulling some stupid stunt on me because he hasn't ruined my life enough already?

I can't really speak for Jade... But be careful of what you do here. What you say to anyone you talk to.

I know you have your own goals and reasons for things, but the consequences could be severe if you're careless.

[As calmly as he says it, he is serious.]

Oh, that's awfully convenient. Believe me, I'll be sure to carefully monitor everything I do and say from now on.

[But it's not like he and Dist are exactly on great terms. Guy runs a hand through his hair, not sure what else to do. He can't force Dist to listen. Maybe he should get Jade? He'll be talking to Jade about this regardless, but he doesn't have to run off to tell the Colonel and the Emperor this minute.]

[He's not that whipped.]

I don't know what you want me to say, but I know you're a survivor. Just, keep it in mind.

[Wow. That's almost a compliment. It gets Dist to back off enough that he just nods, actually considering what he's been told.]

I can think about it. I'll need to find out more. How did you get here?

You might check out the library. [He crosses his arms at the question, half shrugging.]

The first time? Through a shop. Afterwards, you just think about being here and you'll arrive. Same with going home. If you want to try it, I'll wait.

[Dist gives him a very skeptical look, but he does concentrate, and, well... pops away.

When he gets back, he looks far more interested.]

Well, that gives your story more weight. Though I don't know why I'd want to go back at all.

You'd have to take that up with someone with more authority than me. [AKA your bestest friends.]

Otherwise, it's not really my job to police you here. If you don't do something that could be dangerous to our world, I don't have a reason to interfere with you.

Whether you stick around here or go home isn't my concern. But be aware we're not here on vacation.

[Dist gives an incredulous snort halfway through what Guy is saying, but it's not clear what about.]

You say that like you have some idea about why we are here. I don't suppose you'd care to share? Maybe it's as good as a vacation for me.

As far as I'm aware we're here as experimental subjects for the Machine. I haven't been here long enough to say if that's true, but I trust it is.

[Jade wouldn't lie about that, neither would Peony.]
