002- The beach.
[White sand all around. Deathscythe appeared standing tall, it's active cloak closed around it's large frame. Yes, folks; there certainly is a sixteen meeter tall robot suit looming overhead, but it's not moving. It can't. The cockpit opens in it's navel area and Duo Maxwell emerges, pulling with him a rucksack as he grabs a tether ans moves on down.]
Looks like we made it, Deathscythe. [So where was Heero? Duo swings down on the rope and lands in the white sand, sliding down to sit atop of his gundam's foot, digging around the bag for an apple. Feeling hot, he slips out of the top half of that space suit, but while he does so, he finds that something is missing. He gropes his neck, feels back to his back, but whatever he's looking for, it's not there.] Shit!
Where is it?!

[Landing a little ways down from where Duo is sitting, Heero lands his mobile suit and emerges from the cockpit. Grabbing a tether with his good hand, he lowers himself down to the ground and lets go.]
[He looks around, amazed that there is actually a beach on the plane. He makes his way to Duo and pulls his helmet off.]
no subject
[When Heero arrives, he slides down and offers him his jacket. Damn.] Here.
no subject
Something wrong?
[Duo looked visibly upset.]
no subject
Nng. Never mind. You hungry? [Duo pulls the food off from the foot then slides down onto the ground, the soft sand. He hands Heero one of the sandwiches.]
no subject
[Heero took the sandwhich and set it on his lap for a moment. He remembered the pills he pocketed and wanted to take them. His arm was sore.]
Water?
no subject
[Duo took his own bottle and took a long swig from it.] We're we gonna get the supplies we need, I wonder?
no subject
[Reaching into his jacket pocket, he pulled out the small bottle and popped the cap off. Dumping two small, white pills into his palm he quickly tossed them into his mouth and swallowed. Bitter tasting. Then he twisted the cap of the water bottle off and took a good drink of water.]
We can make a trip into my reality. All mobile suits were demolished, so the scrap yards are full of parts.
no subject
We may as well stay here a while, til your arm's healed up? No reason to go into battle injured. [It's not like his performance was perfect. The injury in his own arm did seem to stunt his skills as a pilot, a testimonial to his imperfect landings from before.]
On the other hand, I think we did pretty damn well for ourselves.
no subject
I can still perform adequately.
[Unwrapping his sandwich, he took small bites from it and thought about just how they would obtain the parts for their suits.]
no subject
no subject
Yeah.
[Taking another bite, he looked back towards Wing Zero and then wrapped the remains back up. Picking himself off the ground, he reached down and grabbed his discarded helmet and walked back to his suit.]
no subject
You could at least finish eating. Sheesh.
It's all business with you, isn't it?
no subject
Is that a problem? [There was that annoyed tone again.]
You're not serious enough.
no subject
And there's no problem. Guess I forgot you're not the unwinding sort of guy.
no subject
[Food could wait until later. He never ate much anyway.]
no subject
Is it too much to ask for you to stick around a while? [The real question is, why's he even asking? Man, it felt like a desperate move even to try.]
no subject
[But he knew the reason. Duo had barely any contact with anyone lately and was desperate for someone to talk to.]
no subject
You don't like the whole talking thing. I get it. We can sit in total silence if you want. It'll drive me nuts, sure. But just hang with me for a while. Heck, catch a few Z's if you want. Whatever.
no subject
[He settled back down on the sand and unwrapped the remainder of his sandwich to finish eating.]
no subject
How'd you guys do it anyway? World peace seems pretty impossible where I come from, even with Relena trying her best.
no subject
Luck. [Things had just played out in the correct order for them to win. Sides had constantly shifted, new groups always forming. He believed it had been because of Relena that the world was now in peace.]
no subject
[Seems like he really isn't all that good at this conversation thing anymore, or maybe just not with Heero.] I think going back, fighting? Even if we did defeat OZ, it's still a losing battle. OZ has won the hearts and minds of the people, and they don't even know they're being taken advantage of anymore.
no subject
It doesn't matter Duo.
[He was here to help now. Duo didn't have to fight alone anymore. It wasn't going to be easy, but they would somehow manage it. Even if the best they could do was damage bases and destroy suits, it was something. It might even rekindle everyone's hope of real world peace.]
We're good at fighting losing battles.
no subject
But it does matter. I'm not sure how long I can keep going. Even with your help, t'be honest.
no subject
As long as you need to.
[It was very possible that Duo wasn't going to live to see the end of the battle, but death was something every soldier knew could happen. They couldn't be afraid of it.]
[ZERO hadn't showed him anything yet. It was too soon to worry about that.]
no subject
Heh. Well, I think maybe we should just hit them where it hurts next time. Take out Romefeller, can't figure OZ will be long for the world afterward.
no subject
We'll plan it out. [That was something he couldn't stress enough. It was a completely different battle now. They couldn't just run in and destroy stuff.]
no subject
You think this place is as good as any to leave our Gundams? If so, we can head to your world. Any time is fine.
no subject
We've got time. [He wasn't ready to go back to his world just yet. His arm did need to heal. It would look suspicious and Sally would notice that he was more exhausted than he should have been.
He didn't want to deal with it.]
It would be suspicious if we went now. I have an appointment to see Sally Po.
no subject
Back at New Edwards, right? What's she need to see you for?
no subject
Sally Po is an agent at the Preventers now. She wants to give me another check-up.
no subject
Even so, I don't blame you.
no subject
I collapsed at the battle with Dekim. She's worried something else is wrong and trying to stop me from overexerting myself. [Which he was doing a great job of doing.]
She seemed to forget I had crashed in Wing Zero.
no subject
So what if she's right? We may as well stick around here for a while and take it easy while we fix our gundams. It's okay to slow down so long as nothing needs our immediate attention.
Crashed... Man. Never let me say you guys had it easy.
[Even though he wants to say it.]
no subject
She's not right. [There was nothing wrong with him. He refused to believe it even if it were true or not. He'd just work through it.]
We'll take it slow until my arm heals. Then we have things to do.
no subject
Fair enough. I can do most of the heavy work anyway. Make a list and we'll go shopping.
no subject
no subject
no subject
And?
no subject
no subject
Do what you want.
no subject
Sure.
no subject
[Laying back on the sand, he tucked his hands under his head to support it.]
