[Hei appears in his black coat this time, right after this. He almost collapses the moment he steps onto the Plane, but he manages to stay standing. He's pale and haggard and is clutching a rather nasty gash on his side which looks like it was made by a sword or perhaps a metal pole thrown at high speed. He's bleeding quite a bit.

Once he has steadied himself, he makes his way to the closest solid object, which happens to be the bar, and he sits down with his back to it. He winces as he presses harder at the wound. Not fatal, he decides, but he's not going anywhere anytime soon either.]

Think I need a medic...

[Muttered,] And insanity. [Gives the Doctor a weak smile.] Thank you.

Oooh, sounds like people I know. [smiles back] You're welcome. You make these sorts of Contractors sound rare, though.

[Misaki lets her grip on Li's coat go gently.] They are. A high-school girl who'd become a Moratoria once necessitated the evacuation of an entire section of Tokyo. Five at once--it's a miracle the city's even still there.

[Pause.] This confirms something though. Our realities... really are separate. The Moratoria--that many never appeared at once in my world.

[This is a bit worrying.] Never?

[just sitting back listening, then says mildly] Could be a number of things, really.

[Misaki sits herself down on the Plane, looking ready for some aspirin. She'll have to bring some of that next time.] No. I don't think we've had five total since the Kashiwagi girl.

[To the Doctor,] What sort of things?

[Hei wouldn't mind some himself. Eyes go distant at the mention of Kashiwagi--not a fun case.

Then looks between them, somewhat wary.] Five at one time--it shouldn't have happened at all. It should have been impossible.

[Narrows his eyes.] So who do we know here who can do the impossible?

[nods at Hei] He's got the right idea. Something impossible happening goes back to the biggest impossible thing: this place. It might be another reality test.

[The thought makes Misaki feel sick. She whispers,] I hope not. Five Moratoria... Are those Twins really that sadistic?

[Gives her a hard look.] They sent an innocent teenage girl into my world during the reality switch. They don't care about us.

[Returns it, because she doesn't feel like being patient, wound or no.] That was largely rhetorical.

[looks between them] ANYWAY! The important part is that it's possible. We're just working out theories.

[Looks away, a little sheepish.] The Moratoria themselves are no longer a problem. But if more can be prevented, I want to know how.

Likewise. [She contemplates the invisible floor.] What else have they done?

The Twins? [Pauses.] They sent people into other realities, most recently. I heard they released monsters a few months back as well. [Quietly,] And I'm pretty sure they're the ones who made the Gate move...

[Nyerk. Misaki stares.] They... moved the Gate? What happened? Did people panic? How far?

[contract_star]

An inch. I was the only one who noticed. [Pauses, remembering.] I felt it.

You can feel the Gate move? Why would they move it? Is there any purpose to that?

[Gives him a level look.] It's never moved before, so I don't know--maybe everyone would have felt it move normally. And I asked Ms. Sault. [Smirks grimly.] She said "maybe it didn't like the view from where it was."

[Misaki frowns] I don't think anyone... I don't think I'd be able to tell, personally, unless the shift was substantial.
