[There's a new arrival on the plane. One wearing a lab coat. Some of you might recognize him, as he looks identical to Emil Castagnier, but he doesn't give any indication that he knows what's going on.]

[There's a pause as he scans his surroundings. Is he going to freak out? Have a panic attack? Suddenly bust into Ratatosk mode screaming about injustice? Nope.]

This is amazing! If only I could bring the equipment from Sybak in here, then maybe I could figure out the properties of this place.

[He's staring directly at, what he thinks, is the ground now and taps his foot against it once. Then again. One more time a bit harder. He can't see anything distinguishing it from anything else.

Aster tries to walk quickly towards-well, he tries walking and trips over himself.]

[Well now. This is strange.]

[On the bright side, since the Plane is no longer shut down, at least Jade isn't walking around carrying a spear.]

Bringing equipment from home isn't a problem. [As you should know, Emil.

Of course, if you present Jade the Necromancer with two look-alikes with different personalities and none of each others' memories, his thoughts will tend in a very different direction.]

[Now that he's back on his feet, no worse for wear, Aster turns to look at who's talking. His situation is more difficult than he realizes, not that Aster's willing to explain right now. Instead, he decides to inquire for more information.]

Can you explain further? Perhaps what kind of equipment would be allowed?

Equipment of any size can be brought through with a touch. There's a pamphlet around here somewhere that explains. [He hates explaining, loathes doing the Welcome Committee thing, and would probably be offering Aster blatant lies right now if it weren't for the matter of appearance.] Some buildings have even been brought here, so transporting an entire laboratory should not be a problem.

That's incredible! Transportation through touch alone. I wonder how much mana that requires or perhaps it uses another method.

[Well! Aster now has his first project. Considering he's certain going back to get his equipment isn't much of an option right now, he considers the possibility of there already being one here. If not, he'll just use what's available.]

Do you know which direction the pamphlets are?

It's not likely to use mana. I've only discovered one world here so far that contains mana as an energy source. [He is apparently thinking about the direction of the pamphlets... even though he keeps one in his pocket. But instead he points in the correct direction for the kiosk.] Unless it has moved, of course.

[That just makes his stomach do little flips at the possibility of alternative energy sources. What could it be everywhere else? Project number 2.]

My world uses mana, perhaps it's the one you're talking about.

[He looks in the direction the man points and turns back to face him.]

Can I have your name? I'd like to properly thank you for your help.

You don't know? I'm so glad. I thought I had forgotten your name in my old age. But as we've never been introduced, I'm Jade.

[His old age, huh? Aster laughs a bit at that. He certainly doesn't look that old.]

It's nice to meet you, Jade. My name is Aster.

[Would you like to shake hands? Because he's holding his out.]

[He will shake hands. What a polite youngster! It warms his ancient heart.] As you mentioned mana, have you ever heard of Tethe'alla?

[At the mention of Tethe'alla, he smiles.]

Yes, I have. It's where I lived prior to the world's restoration.

[It's not like Aster can tell. Snoop away.]

Not exactly. Tethe'alla merged with another world, Slyvarant, and became one. My colleague and I ended up doing field research after that.
