[Firesong is huddled on the ground in the forest, cuddling a brightly glowing Aya. He's shaking slightly , his breathing kept carefully even as he tries to keep his attention centered on what's around him, and not what the rest of the Plane feels like at the moment. The firebird in his arms keeps giving a comforting flute-like coo, false sparks falling from her feathers. Firesong tries to keep his voice even]

I'm all right Aya. [At least he hopes he will be]

[Isaac nods a little bit, sitting next to Firesong, but not too close]

Yeah, I did. Usually I can use psynergy here but...now it's hard to even use the Djinn...

[Firesong just keep petting Aya. He does give Isaac a very confused glance though.] Djinn? Psynergy? I absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

It's...I guess it's my world's magic. Djinn are elemental spirits we use.

[At least those are things Firesong can understand] Then it's no wonder it's not working. The energy flows have all vanished. There is nothing where they should be, just blackness itself.

[Isaac nods] It's strange...I've never not felt it, you know?

[At least Isaac appears to understand what he means] I've been able to use magesight for as long as I can remember. To see nothing when I arrived here was like being struck blind. [To be honest he had been afraid he'd lost his gift for a moment and that was what truly had freaked him out.]

[Isaac nods sympathetically] I feel like there's a bag over my head or something.

I suppose that is one way of putting it. [Even looking beyond the forest makes him feel unease. But that does remind him of something, and he drops his shields for just a moment to check.] Mind magic appears to be unaffected at least. So we haven't lost all abilities.

Mind Magic?

It's exactly what it sounds like, Gifts that use only the mind to work. It's very different from true magic.

Huh. What kind of things can you do with that?

That depends entirely on what particular Gift you have. What those with the Gift of Empathy can do is far different from what those with the Fetching gift can do. My Gifts lie in mind-speech and earthsense.

[Three of those are self-explanitory, but...]
