[Riku appears on the plane, still, but clearly unsettled. He takes off his blindfold and puts it away, the runs a hand through his hair and closes his eyes as he tries to wrap his head completely around what he just went through. He should have expected... but...]

She looked... damn.

[He goes silent for a moment, staring up and off into the distance as if he expects to find answers there.]

I know what I have to do.

((OoC: Quick update before 'shifted plot! Riku is now updated to his first appearance in 358/2 Days. well, the equivalent of, anyway~))

Ah, my apologies. I'm not familiar with how one asks for willing test subjects. Shall I say that the process is painless and will have no ill effects?

[Can he trust creepy guy with the monkey's paw...?]

If you're completely sure of that, then yeah. I'll do it. [But know that he's got his eye on you, Jade...]

[clinical]

[Jade vanishes, reappearing with the whole set-up for experimentation.] I only have to look you over with this fonon scanner.

[darkercalling]

[He blinks at the set-up, eyes it for a moment, not entirely sure what he's gotten himself into.]

And what's a fonon scanner? Besides "this". [He nods at it.]

[clinical]

A beam of low-frequency fonons are produced by the scanner and projected towards the object. Depending on the fonon composition of the object, different frequency fonons will be absorbed or passed through the object. What passes through is recorded, and I can translate from that data to see what is occurring. [Textbook reply. Probably true, possibly not. Jade hates explaining.]

[darkercalling]

So now I'm an object. [He pauses, then just shakes his head.] Right. What do I do?

[clinical]

Don't worry; objects only need to stay still. If I may?

[darkercalling]

[Riku nods, straightening up a bit and standing still.]

Why do you even need to do this?

[clinical]

[Jade takes the scan as he speaks.] As something is occurring because of that book, and I don't know what it is, it seems a good idea to try to understand as much about it as I can.

[darkercalling]

"That book"?

[He hasn't heard any mention of any sort of book. Maybe it's from Jade's own world...?]

[clinical]

The one on the stand. [He points to it.] A number of books like it were found in the library some time ago.

[darkercalling]

I see. [Clearly it's nothing he paid much attention to. He momentarily wonders if maybe he should mind matters concerning the Plane a bit more...] So this tells you if the book has... done anything to me, even though I've never touched it?

[clinical]

Correct. So far, no subjects who haven't made contact with the book are affected. Once they read it, they become affected, though to a lesser degree than the ones who found the books originally. [He is looking through the readings as he says this.] That holds with you as well.

[darkercalling]

I guess it's good to know I'm normal, then. What sort of change is it?

[clinical]

The book radiates a type of particle I haven't quite identified. People who have handled the book absorb those particles.
