[She lowers the weapon, very slightly, taking in her surroundings. Or rather, the lack thereof.]

Contractor!

[She turns in a slow circle, tension wrapped around her like a creaking spring.]

Contractor! Show yourself. You’re being stupid. Using your power on a member of the NPA will get you killed. It isn’t worth the laugh.

[A pause. She’s starting to get angry again.]

Show yourself!

[She looks up, down, around at the stars, and a pained expression crosses her face. Barely audible, she mutters,]

You people… know how to be cruel.

Th' Astral Plane or so I've been told. A lot o' people come here from all over th' place. Hell, we've got singing and skating guys, people with fangs, ghost girls an' stuff like that.

Of course we do. Of course there is. And you are a traveling preacher with a massive cross that sounds like a bazooka when you set it down. [The look she gives him is rather pointed. Here, have an observant policewoman!]

[smiles lightly and doesn't really say anything about his B.F.G. since hey. she really didn't ask]

[Sardonic amusement. She eyes the cross. She can always reevaluate her association with this man later--but for now, she's curious, and he has been rather forthcoming. Nonsensical, maybe, but forthcoming.]

What sort of weapon is that, anyway? Aside, of course, from a tremendously heavy one?

[and she gets a blank look with that question before huffing a plume of smoke and picking up the Cross-Punisher. A flick of his fingers and the bindings fall away, showing the gleaming gun]

[She feels a sudden warming to him, though she doesn't show it. At last--something simple, a philosophy she can understand.]

Sand worms sound dangerous enough on their own. You do what you have to do.

[She smiles a little, feeling ridiculous for acting as though sand worms are real--but he thinks they are, so maybe... they are? Strangers things have happened. She shakes her head and sighs.]

[braces easily against the gun's weight, so used to it that the movement is smooth, effortless looking. he pats it on the side, and sets it down gently.]

I usually bring her up here t' clean since she's a bitch being so big, but she's got me through a lot an' helped in keepin' people safe. And yeah, sand worms are pretty nasty, but other people are worse. Bandits don' care who they raid as long as they get goods, that sort o' thing.

[glances at her, smiling a little] And you don't believe me. But that's okay. Wait 'til you meet the Doctors. Or the wizard.

I would imagine so. Mine is annoying enough to clean some times. It seems a bit unwieldy, if you don't mind my saying.

[She frowns, raising an eyebrow at him.]

What's so unusual about a doctor?

[grins and shifts his weight, swinging the gun up and around like it was a piece of cardboard] Nah. That's jus' pure bunk, though others tell me she's heavy.

Doctors. There's three o' 'em an' they talk 'bout being some kind of Time Lord things. Goes right over my head, mostly, though that one police guy seems keen 'bout 'em.

Name of Albus Dumbledore. I was stuck in his world for a week an' got chewed on by books an' set his pub on fire an' sort of gave him a reputation.

What sort of books? I hope that... wizard [Wizards and Aliens and Time Lords, oh my!] wasn't in too much trouble? He was able to get back to his world, I'm assuming.

Th' two skaters, Li, th' weird guy kept on askin' me 'bout dyin', th' creepy one that looks like him, the kid with th' eyepatch, and a couple others. Haven't met everyone yet.

Hot, mostly. We've got two suns, five moons, an' not much water or plants. There's a few nativ ecritters runnin' 'round like th' sandworms and tomas, a few we brought with us like cats an' dogs an' birds an' people o' all sorts.
