11][Was this over before it ever began.

[ With a pen in hand, Romana is once again found on the Plane. Handling matters at home with the war has otherwise kept her preoccupied, but for obvious reasons of course.

However she did manage to return here to tend to an important matter that she had been neglecting. With her hair tied back loosely to keep it from falling over her shoulders Romana is seated at a table in the library. Before her is a few sheets of paper as well as blank envelope along with a partially filled glass of wine.

Every now and again she pauses to sip the drink before resuming whatever it is she was writing. ]

[Braxiatel pauses when he sees Romana. The air of easy self-assurance shifts slightly; Benny's right, he is deferential towards his President. But she is President, and deference is what he owes her. Braxiatel approaches Romana without looking over her should to see what she is writing.]

My Lady?

Oh, nothing. It's a pleasure to see you. You're well, I take it?

[with mild surprise, but of course accepting] I'm happy to be of service. What do you need?

Yes, I think I could arrange that. I'll need a name, address, and time period, of course, but it should be a simple matter.

[At that, his is a quiet smile.] I doubt that, my Lady. But if you think as much, I'll ask no more of it. I can, on occasion, manage to carry out orders without question. A difficult task, but not impossible.

[His voice becomes softer and more serious.] It is my most profound hope that such a letter need not be sent.

Very well, my Lady.

[Indicating the chair across from her] May I?

Thank you. [He sits across from her.] Who are you writing to, incidentally?

Ahh. [Brax may or may not have some knowledge of this individual. Well, it is Brax, and it's about Romana.] Don't tell me: he realized the Doctor had broken into the Louvre. Again.

[with a sigh] The number of works I come across bearing his mark, in one way or another...

When the war is over, you'll have to take a second trip there.

[It's amazing how easy it is for him to say that, how untouched his smile, how confident his tone. It's almost as if he doesn't know what the future has promised them all.]

France is a lovely country. For most of its history, anyway. I'm slightly less partial to visiting during that Revolution of its.

You could always simply go to the fashion shows.

[There is no denying that Romana has very good taste in clothing.]

... Romana?

[The President seemed to be lost in thought, but it had been a long time - far too long - since they had been able to sit and talk. She worried about her friend and the events of the last few weeks have made her realise just how dangerous life on the Plane could be. It was her duty to remain close to her.]

[identity profile] anoblesavage.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I am interrupting you. [She did not phrase it as a question, because the answer was obvious. But she did not leave, either.] Good. You work too hard.

Then I shouldn't interrupt you?

[Although she still sat down.]

[once again, the Doctor is exploring the library, something he's taken to doing on occasion should Meredith's warning ever prove true. but once he spots Romana, he can't help making a beeline towards her, his original task easily discarded (and he was close to done anyway) as he approaches her from the side]

Hello, Romana! You know, one of these days, I've really got to introduce you to my friend, Harriet. The pair of you would get on swimmingly! She'd probably be doing exactly what you're doing right now if she ever came here... [he trails off as he attempts to peer at her letter]

[he ignores what she says for a moment, distracted by who her letter is to] Duggan! Ohhh, I haven't seen him in ages! I really ought to drop in on him some--[aaaand now it hits him]--hold on a mo'. All of you together?! [he sounds horrified at the thought]

[...!!! That- that lady is writing a letter. Writing. A letter. But writing it. And not drawing pictures, but actually writing a letter.]

Excuse me um, er, uuuh, lady! I couldn't fail to notice you are um... writing. As in writing letters to tell someone something. Am I right...?

[identity profile] dragonnerd.livejournal.com 2010-12-15 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hiccup's excitement creeps on his cheeks, making him blush lightly. ADfasdfgsfg they know a purpose of a letter!]

Aah, yes, yes, but I- I never really saw, well, others to write a letter, or just write anything in particular, you know. So, it's... kinda neat to see someone doing it.

[identity profile] dragonnerd.livejournal.com 2010-12-16 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
[He snorts.]

Communication? Well they like to yell to each other, because that is so handy when it comes to communication. Oh, I'm from Berk, heard about it? It's the pretty village somewhere up there with people not knowing the purpose of letters... at all.

They must send a lot of letter from where you come from, right? [Tries to peek into that writing.]

[Barbara is wandering through the stacks, gently straightening some books and pulling out others; when she turns to see Romana there's a stack teetering on her lap

she can't help the sympathy, having spent so much time writing herself, nor the curiosity, so she wheels towards the table]
