[Botta smiles with something like startled relief at nothing in particular.]

Truly? But how...can that be? ...No, of course, I suppose it doesn't matter. I'm so glad...

[He looks troubled for just a moment.] You know I can't stay. The Renegades still need me.

[A pause, and then the smile returns in full force.] ...In that case, I gladly accept. [He steps forward, embracing the air in front of him...

and suddenly looks both bewildered and forlorn as he realizes there's nothing there.]

[gently, from behind him] You're seeing someone who's not there, too...huh?

[Botta turns to regard this new person, quickly trying to regain his composure and not entirely succeeding.] I- ...Apparently. Is this...normal, for here?

[shakes his head, sympathetic] No, but...it seems like it is right now. Are you new here?

[He nods, frowning.] ...It's been a week. I'm still hoping I'll wake up at any moment and find it was all a strange dream.

[frowns, trying to sound reassuring] It's not like this, usually. At least, it didn't used to be. I'm sure it's just temporary.

Small comfort at the moment, I'm afraid. [He wants to go home so much right now.] ...I just hope they were right about time standing still while we're trapped here.

[sighs] Yeah, I know.

Oh, it does! Really. When you head back home, it'll be like you never left.

Hm. [Nice to have everyone saying the same thing, but Botta will believe it when he's back home and Lord Yuan is not demanding to know where he's been for the past week. Or however long it takes.]

What is it like, normally? I had heard that the monsters are also a recent addition...

It's...actually a really nice place. It's calm, and it's got the restocking bar and kitchen and all. And people from all sorts of different places come here, so you can meet tons of people you'd never see in your own world.

[He nods slowly.] It still looks like this, then? [He gestures to the haphazard scenery, and includes the invisible floor in the movement without once looking down. New guy is not quite used to walking on nothingness just yet.]

Oh, yeah! Cool, isn't it? Except it's usually not so...you know, spooky. [gestures vaguely]

I suppose. The lack of solid ground is a little unnerving. [He's an earth mage, after all.]

Well, it is solid. And it looks normal when you're in buildings?

...Emil. Hello. [Still getting his bearings back after that odd vision.]

A-are you... okay? You look like you just saw a ghost.

...Not quite. But I'm fine, it...it seems to have faded.

[You're not imagining the disappointment in his tone, there.]

... My friend's a healer. I can have her look at you if you want.

[That's a rather frightening thought, that it might be himself and not this place, and it shows briefly in his uncertain frown. But checking it out would be the most prudent course, even if he doesn't like to think about that possibility, and so he nods slowly.]

I suppose it couldn't hurt.

[Emil sees that and then backpedals a bit.]

I-i-it's not like you're crazy or anything! But there are monsters, really big plant-like ones, and they try to make you see things so that you don't see them. But I'm sure you're fine since you're not bleeding anywhere!

[By backpedaling he's made a bigger hole and thus falls into it metaphorically.]

... Nevermind. I'm just making things worse.

[Botta raises an eyebrow at the boy.]

I...see, I think. But as you've noticed, I'm not hurt, so I don't think a healer can do me much good...unless you think I'm either crazy or somehow cursed.

[Which he also wouldn't put past this place. Either way, gj Emil!]

You can usually tell when you're cursed, right? So I don't think that's it. [lol game mechanics] A-and you definitely seem sane to me!

I think it's just this place. It... does things like that.

[And that's the answer he was hoping for, although oddly, it doesn't actually make him feel any better. He sighs.]

I was afraid of that. ...I'll be on my guard, from now on.

I... [... fail.] ... yeah. We all need to stick together.

[He considers, and then:] No one's bothered you, right?

[He shakes his head. That's steadier ground, at least.] Not in the least - everyone seems far too preoccupied with the current situation to worry about anything else. Which is something I understand entirely - I'm still hoping to find my way home soon.

What about yourself? I hope you've been well since the last time we spoke.
