just a twinge of cosmic angst.
[Time Lords do not have Bad Days. At least, they do, but they tend to come in cosmic angst - planets burning, companions dying, an entire universe collapsing, etc.
Maybe it's a backlash of her time trying to be dull and ordinary, but the Doctor has had a bad day. You can tell by the way she walks in a little dizzily, dripping with some substance that isn't quite water, and the bandage on her nose, and the bruise along her cheek directly to the right of that, and the way she aims herself for the nearest couch and flops onto it stomach-first. And Chesterton - we did mention Chesterton, didn't we? - follows along, looking considerably better-groomed than she, and proceeds to lick her hand, whining intermittently. HE HAS A GOOD PLAN TO MAKE HER DAY BETTER, come help him.]

He makes a few doggy noises (soft barks/yips) in Chesterton's direction, trying to get him to come over.
... What? He talks to animals all the time! He also makes pacts with them. And, you know, he's got the power of the lord of all monsters under his belt.]

You might not be a human, but you're still being pretty stupid. The dog is trying to get you to feel better and you're ignoring him. He's only going to get more upset.
[He drops to a crouch and reaches out to let the puppy sniff his hand.]
Whatever is going on, you should let go of it for now. It's not healthy for you or for your companion.

[Yes, he's consoling the dog about how difficult it can be to help Displeased people.]

And Three groans a little from her place.] I heard that. [And she resettles so she can be semi-sitting up with the cushions propping her up - unfortunately her body's trying to sort out a small cocktail of poisons and well-meaning cures and she needs a few hours of rest before she can not feel dizzy and so on - so she can drink her tea.]

Emil shuts up after that and starts to walk away. HIS JOB HERE IS DONE.]

[Brax offers a dog treats to Chesterton. It isn't entirely clear why he had one.]

[It's because he loves Chesterton and was hoping desperately to see him again. Obviously.]

[Oh, sorry, Doctor, are you still here? Brax is engaging in a conversation with your dog. Either he is very good at understanding dog-language or he's bluffing and well.]

Three looks vaguely touched. Awww, her puppy is so cute and sharing.]
