[sitting at a desk in the middle of the Astral Plane, working on his paperwork like a good little nancy boy. And, like a good little nancy boy, he's listening to a broadway musical. On the glasses Fumie gave him, to be specific.

In fact, he's singing along to one. Yes indeed, Sam's singing "If You Were Gay."]

You and the Doctor ... are similar in that regard, then. Is that why you like him?

No, well, maybe. It's why I get along with him, but that's something different.

Different in what way?

Getting along with someone tends to involve agreement, whether it's in ideals or agreeing to disagree. Liking someone ... can be entirely inexplicable, actually. More to do with personality - which is related to agreeableness, but not entirely. Things overlap.

And so you simply get along with the Doctor, then?

No. I like them, too.

Well. That is a good thing, then. [purses her lips] I think.

Why wouldn't it be?

I ... do not know. [thinks about this, trying to find the proper words] Having people who care for him has always made the Doctor happy, but I would be just as glad were it simply he and I. So it is good that you like him, because it brings him happiness, but it would also be just as well if you didn't. [frowns] Is that an acceptable answer?

It's an honest one, I think, even if it's not a very good one for social interaction.

I still find this whole concept of interaction difficult, Sam Tyler. I don't fully understand it yet.

Most other people don't either. It's really just all fumbling along, using learned responses as crutches as we try to make our way.

It seems to me most of my responses lend to more misunderstandings and frustration between myself and those I speak with than anything worthwhile, especially in regards to the Master. And even yourself, Sam Tyler. I seem to offend you more often than not.

Do you? Don't worry; I've got very thick skin.

You're learning. You're not going to learn to interact with people overnight. But I have faith in you.

[nods] Quite often. You are ... refreshing, to speak with. You haven't tried to kill me, at any rate.

And I would like to learn, I believe. It seems to me it would please the Doctor, as well. So thank you.

Not a fan of killing, so it's good.
