(no subject)

[Sirius Black is in the bar, though he hasn't started in on the alcohol yet. He's simply nursing a cup of tea, and staring into space (no pun intended) -- forgive him, he's a little disoriented. Eventually, he speaks;]

Generally when you get killed, it means someone else was around to do the killing...only we didn't see anyone else. Didn't even see the spells fired off. I suppose they could've been using an Invisibility Cloak, or a Disillusionment charm. But I thought Remus, Harry and I were the only ones around from our world...

[he goes back to his tea for a long moment, then mutters;] Hurry up, Moony.

In a way. I do not come from a world where magic is used as... freely, I suppose.

No. A user of a very old magic, written in God's words.

{He shakes his head} We have nothing like that. Those who use the Psalms are Poets. We keep our secrecy to keep our lives, but we are not separate from those who know nothing of the Psalms' power.

{Simply} I would likely be considered one of those "dark wizards," so I have no opinion, monsieur.

{He thinks the statement itself is ironic--it couldn't be farther from that in reality, but the "dark" part comes from something else entirely. But his cold expression doesn't change, just follows the path of Sirius's movement evenly}

It is not the first time I have been called arrogant, nor will it be the last. But the magic does not make us better, only wiser, I would say.

Then I suppose it is a matter of opinion. The Psalms give wisdom, but you are welcome to disbelieve that.

Few do.

{After recent events, he feels quite assured and safe to show it, so out of his fancy jacket, he pulls out a green book leafed in gold. He sets it on the counter of the bar and holds out his hand to suggest that Sirius pick it up}

This is the safest example I can give. You can try and pick up the book, but without faith, it is impossible to even do that.

{It doesn't budge an inch, as if it's glued to the table, but Robespierre takes it back easily, tucking it inside his jacket safely once more}

That book is guarded by the Psalms, as you see for yourself. Even skilled Poets are unable to open it.
