[It's probably a hallucination; that's the only explanation Zack can come up with as he looks around at his new surroundings. It's not the lab, or the transparent green of a mako pod, or even the forest outside of town. Instead he sees... space.]

[Nice and coherent, there. But since when did this happen? He can sort of remember a dream, but dreams have never been reality. And what about-]
Cloud? Cloud, where are you? Cloud! [...Nothing.] Is this some kind of joke? Hey! This isn't funny...!
[Aaaand he's walking. Through space.

And you're breathing in it. So it can't be space, right?
This is the Astral Plane. It's named after the place your soul travels through when you die or attain a kind of enlightenment, but it's much less morbid than that. You can come or go by way of a thought. Like taking a step. It's that simple.

I've also heard stories about the people here being experimented on. I do know that sometimes bad things happen here, but it's impossible to stay off the Plane for too long... It just calls you right back.
